December 29, 2019 - Here is a panoramic picture of tonight's Epic Sunset from Signal Hill-Hilltop Park, consisting of seven pictures merged together in Lightroom! Tonight after Church while I was shopping with my Parents at Trader Joe's, I noticed the patchy clouds in the sky, and knew that these would potentially create an epic sunset. Since Signal Hill-Hilltop Park is one of the best sunset viewing spots and closest to home for me, I decided to visit here for a last minute photo shoot of the epic sunset. Thank God I was correct about tonight's sunset, because it looked so colorful, epic, and breathtaking!

Sunset of the century in Edinburgh and the biggest performing picture I've ever uploaded to Facebook being seen by over 800,000 people and in excess of 32,000 likes.

January 5, 2020 - Today after returning home from my Joshua Tree National Park photo shoot, I decided to chase the epic sunset at Shoreline Village. The clouds really added lots of colors to the sky at sunset time tonight!

October 31, 2020 - Epic Cloudy Sunset at Ralphs in Long Beach, CA for Halloween Night! What an amazing sunset!

I love it when a plan comes together. Tonight sunset from Alder Lake was incredible... You just had to be patient and wait for it to happen. It only lasted about a minute but the colors popped like crazy and I was lucky enough to be there to capture it. I saw the clouds forming on my way home from work and was pretty sure it was going to be exciting somewhere. I think I picked a good spot.

Hero's Odyssey Fine Art Landscape & Nature Photography for Los Angeles Gallery Show !

Will be busy printing and framing in nice large, matted formats and frames and museum glass! Five of these photos will be printed on 40" x 60" floating wall mounted metal sheets! I think I know which--will share photos of the photos hanging on the walls!

And I am mounting some on plexiglass/acryllic--front mounting them! Some I am printing on lossy fuji-crystal archival paper too, and then front mounting 40"x60" versions to plexiglass--will send photos!

The secret to HDR photography is that you want people to say, "Woe dude--that's unreal!" And not, "Dude--that's not real!" "Unreal" is the word they use when they're trying to figure out the photo--what makes it cool--is it a photo? Is it painted? How'd it come to be--how'd you bend the light that way? "That's not real," is what they say if you have the saturation/HDR/ etc. turned up too high. :)

Some (almost) final edits for my Los Angeles Gallery Show! Here's how I do it:

Print: Fuji Crystal Lightjet Metallic front-mounted to 1/4" Acrylic.

Acrylic: 1/4" with regular polished edge

Backing: White aluminum 3mm

Hanging Mechanism: Silver aluminum float box

I'll be using the top-of-the-line, museum-quality gallery format consists of the highest-quality prints on Fujicolor Crystal Archival Paper, front-mounted to UV-resistant protective acrylic, backed by a solid aluminum sheet, and fastened to an aluminum silver frame "float box" for mounting on the wall.

Wish you all could come (and hang out with the goddesses)!

Let me know your favs.!

December 29, 2019 - Here is tonight's Epic Sunset from Signal Hill-Hilltop Park! You know the old saying that "close" only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades? Well, close doesn't quite count at Horsetail Falls, either. You may notice a little pink and purple in the sky in the upper left corner of this shot--that's a hint of what was going off in the valley while I was doggedly shooting horsetail. Keep an eye out for others' shots from this past Saturday, especially from tunnel view (I've seen one so far, and it was a GORGEOUS sunset from there). I did get a tiny bit of the tail-end of the color at valley view; if I can quit being grumpy about missing the full-blown epicness, I'll post that one in a day or two. The color on the east buttress of El Cap (where Horsetail is) was insanely lit up with all that reflected color, so I had to desaturate this a bit to keep it from looking like weirdly neon granite. One thing I do like about this shot, is that the light of the setting sun also picked up a smaller ephemeral fall to the left/west of Horsetail, which is something I haven't seen before.

This was shot from the El Cap picnic area, and I think I'll try the other spot on Southside Drive when I'm back in a few weeks (I just like the angle better from there). Hopefully, the falls will keep flowing and I'll get another (better) chance at it. This is a tricky one to shoot, and this weekend was the first time I've tried. Live and learn!

Amusing anecdote on this one (since I seem fated to always have something odd and/or embarrassing happen when I go out shooting): I was running a little later than I'd have liked getting over to the picnic area to shoot this, which tends to turn me into a bit of a spazz (don't act like you don't know what I mean--it's that I MUST GET TO THE COLOR!! freakout we all go through). I get parked, jump out of the car, grab the camera bag in one hand, the already-extended (but folded-in) tripod in the other, and go tearing over to a spot to shoot.

I look up and see Edie Howe (of Little Red Tent fame), who yells a hello. She's one of a small army of photographers all lined up, so I make a beeline to set up next to her, and start post-holing WAY TOO FAST through the knee-deep snow to get into position. Just as she yells "be careful--slow down!" I faceplant right into that snow, in front of about 30 other photogs. Camera's fine, but my pride's a little bruised.

SCULPTOR: MARC QUINN (UNITED KINGDOM)

GIFTED BY MR & MRS MASAGUNG

A hefty seven tons, this impressive bronze sculpture is 9m long and 3m tall. It portrays an oversized reproduction of the artist’s own son, Lucas, as a baby. The sculpture’s weight is masterfully balanced on the infant’s right hand, creating the illusion that the sculpture is floating in the air. Created in 2008, the sculpture was exhibited for the first time at the Beyond Limits exhibition of contemporary sculpture at Chatsworth House, then later at the 2012 The Littoral Zone, at the Musee Oceanographic in Monaco.

January 1, 2020 - On New Year's Day, I had to catch up on sleep after a back to back photo shoot of the New Year's Eve Fireworks at the Lion's Lighthouse at Shoreline Village, followed by a photo shoot of the Rose Parade with my friends Terri, Peggy, and the Creative Photo Academy! When I woke up, I saw these colorful clouds and had to photograph them from home. What a glorious ending to the first day of 2020, and the first day of the new decade. Happy New Year 2020 to all and to all a Good Night!

Seen and shot over the Embankment Bridge, London [about an year ago].

This captivating photograph showcases the stunning sunset in Trujillo, captured on Andalusia Day in 2024. The viewpoint is from within the historic Church of Santa María la Mayor, where the setting sun casts a radiant starburst through the arched colonnade. The warm glow of the sun contrasts beautifully with the ancient stone arches and columns, while the delicate ironwork of the railing adds an elegant touch to the foreground. The horizon stretches out in the distance, offering a glimpse of the tranquil landscape as day gives way to night. This image not only captures the serene beauty of the sunset but also the enduring grandeur of Trujillo's architectural heritage.

In the heart of Namibia’s arid landscape stands a crumbling house, a silent relic of a bygone era. Surrounded by the endless desert, it tells a story of human ambition, struggle, and the ultimate surrender to nature’s relentless forces.
