Another crazy sky from my favorite view of the city. Practicing some long exposures on solid ground.

Another one from the archives. This was a magnificent sunset. Even far after the sun had went down the sky put on a show!
Flickr seems to have compressed this image and it looks soft to me. The photo is a single shot at 13mb.
Persistence plays a big part in this image. I've taken sunset photos from this spot too many times and have never been truly satisfied. This night changed that.
I arrived to the bridge and met with a friend to set up. There was one man already set up on the bridge but that was it. After claiming our spots we fine tuned our gear and kept to ourselves. The sky was looking great and we hoped for the horizon to stay clear. As the sun set though it began to cover itself behind some heavy cloud and slowly disappeared.
My friends and I figured it was a dud and started to BS on the bridge. The man who was there first must of thought so too and packed up his gear to leave. Before leaving he stop to mention how he drove all the way from Kirkland hoping for a good sunset. I feel bad kind of, but why would you leave?
After a few minutes more of our BS convo I looked out and noticed a small beam of light coming out over the tail end of the Olympics most Northern tip. Minute after minute the beam grew and turned into a huge fan of light. Vivid colors and gradient purples started paint the whole scene. I couldn't believe my eyes! Moments ago we figured it was a dud and some guy actually left! lol.
Needless to say the sky just blew up after that! Some of the most unreal colors and cloud displays I've ever seen from that spot. No filters needed. THE gradient colors were nuts, and I don't think the photos do it justice. I'm glad I decided to make this one and share it with some friends.

October 24, 2020 - Epic Cloudy Sunset at Signal Hill-Hilltop Park. I saw the Cirrocumulus Clouds forming this evening, so I visited Signal Hill-Hilltop Park to capture the epic cloudy sunset. This is one of my all time favorite local sunset viewing places near my Home in Long Beach, CA!
I've never been a fan of watching tv. I'd much rather be outside watching stuff like this. One of my favorite parts is seeing people stop to admire the beauty! It really is magic!
Another perspective of the epic sunset in August... This was a fleeting moment, I was in the midst of having dinner but had to put down my plate, grab my camera and run outside, no time for tripod...thank goodness for my Fujifilm XH1 with IBIS!
Captured with Fujifilm XH1, Samyang 12mm, Image Stabilization (IBIS) on, hand held.
June 25, 2020 - Tonight's epic cloudy and colorful sunset, as seen and photographed at Signal Hill-Hilltop Park! So thankful that I was able to capture this beautiful sunset after work tonight! Gtood night and sweet dreams, everyone!
Sunset this afternoon from Flagstone Creek.
I was watching the sky all day, along with the radar and just knew it would be a colorful sky...wasn't disappointed!
I really wasn't to fussed about doing a HDR on this but after seeing the end result decided to go with it.
Cheers.
Sunset from the bridge on High Street in Northcote, I think everyone in Melbourne took a photo that night. Nikon D800.

January 5, 2020 - Today after returning home from my Joshua Tree National Park photo shoot, I decided to chase the epic sunset at Shoreline Village. The clouds really added lots of colors to the sky at sunset time tonight!
Epic sunset over Interlaken Switzerland. I believe the mountain on the right is Morgenberghorn. I had called it a night and went back to our rental apartment then the sky started to blow up. Fortunately I was able to race back outside and catch a couple frames before the color went away. I really wish I was up on Harder Kulm for this one. From now on I'll try to be more patient.
