These turbines are in the Kaheawa pastures, the word Kaheawa discribes the wind pattern typically found in the area.

The flower is tri-colored using hand dyed and blended wool. The middle has shades of blue and purple with strands of sparkly material, the middle ring is a purple/mauve, and the outer ring is violet/purple.
The stem and leaves have two different colors of hand-dyed green wool.
The background is a light peach color.
The base is white, 100% sheep wool.
The design and background of the card are needlefelted with a single barbed needle.

Wow! Look at this closet that was featured in the Buccaneer Limited house at the 2010 Tunica show. Plenty of space for all you clothing and then some! Shelves and drawers provide lots of space and there is even a mirror and bench to complete the package.

A day in a Junkyard

Either it is an accident or beyond its age, our carefully handled favourite car gets old, damaged, rusty, abandoned or impounded and becomes unwanted. It then finds a temporary shelter in a junkyard. A junkyard is also known as a car wrecker, a place where damaged or old vehicles are broken up and recycled to obtain useable parts and scrap metal.
Junkyards make a significant contribution to the economy. It is estimated that the vehicle attrition rate in Australia is 4.1% which is approximately 700,000 vehicles a year and produces 980,000 tonnes of waste each year. Thus, it requires a significant amount of workforce involvement to safely dispose of these vehicles as well as sustain the growth of this industry.
Imlachs Self Serve Auto Parts, a junkyard in Springvale, Victoria is a busy place full of activity throughout the day. People come here to sell their unwanted cars as scrap metal or collect recyclable parts from the damaged vehicles. There are 3 multi-dismantling machines, 2 forklifts, 6 trucks and 4 automotive lifts in operation with 36 shift workers to operate and run the business.
The Junkyard offers an environmentally friendly place to dispose of unused and unwanted vehicles. These unwanted cars contain toxic battery acids, toxic chemicals, engine oils and other fluids which can cause long term damage to soils, water and air quality. To minimise the environmental impacts, the most environmentally friendly way is to dispose of them in a junkyard with authorized operators.

The Eco Fashion Week (EFW) is a bi-annual fashion show that focuses on promoting and supporting the idea of sustainability, educate the public about care for the environment and by leading the clothing industry in creating apparel that is at once fashionable, trend-setting and earth-friendly. The green wearing and organic clothing event Is also one component of the green economy for the city as well. Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson thinks EFW also helps position Vancouver as ‘the global capital of eco-friendly and sustainable fashion, nicely aligns with the City of Vancouver’s goal to be the “World’s Greenest City” by 2020’ as stated in the mayor’s letter of support to the show’s organizers.
The EFW 2011 dates are February 22-25, 2011 with a schedule of event that includes a fashion runway show each day on Feb 23-25 at the Salt Building and Shangri-La Hotel (Feb 23 only) in Vancouver. EFW is organized by Aveda (Myriam Laroche, Evie Ponce, Shauna Biggar, Ashleigh Said etc.)

It also has a large outdoor living space which has been constructed with composite decking made from recycled materials. Based all on a mistake, for some reason through a twist in my head I mis-remembered a friend's incredible Southwestern Mole Pizza as being Moroccan. So when a raw pizza potluck party was scheduled I thought I knew what I wanted to bring. At least I knew I wanted to be different. And different it was!
Positive it was Moroccan I bought all the seasonings after some internet research while waiting for a reply to my request for the recipe. Knowing she was busy and running out of time I started on a crust based on what I thought would work using those spices. It was DELICIOUS even just as a dough though I knew it would be different from what my friend had served me a couple weeks prior. But, I didn't think I could recreate the sauce without some clue as to what it contained. Well, of course my friend had no clue what Moroccan pizza I was talking about in my request to her and once we figured out my short-circuit (and laughed) I made a Moroccan-influenced mole sauce in honor of my original though misguided inspiration. This mole sauce though used dried paprika peppers as the base and North African spices with just a hint of raw cacao (Africa is the number one producer now of cacao beans but what I used was organic, fair trade and naturally shade-grown, and raw though there is some debate on the health aspects there). I topped that with a savory [truly raw] cashew creme cheese, avocado, diced jalapeno, lemon zest, pine nuts, pea shoots, and a garlic topping.
I took the leftovers from the pizza potluck (12 people -- a pic of the leftovers in the previous photo in my stream) to my friend's work the next day to have lunch with her and share my mistake with the person responsible. :D
My friend brought the kale salad which was massaged with an orange-miso dressing. Yummy and tender. Perfect with the pizza. In the bowl is a couple pieces of the crust (often referred to as "crackers" when not being used for a pizza such as this). I guess they were really, really good all on their own but not being a big cracker fan I had to rely on others to tell me. :)
This lunch then became the basis for a dinner (for 55) soon after which received rave reviews with people (some famous) still asking me to share the recipe or come to their house and make it for them. :D Pics of that dinner in the following photos.
