while this may be confusing for some- the entrance to black rock city- where burningman takes place is called the gate. So my pal, British Hussy, is doing a bit of gate keeping. Or really box office/will call keeping, but we're a part of the gate in my mind. Abandon all fear yea who enter here. WEE!

This was a fancy room that served as the entry way (the In Memory table was located in here). This room also had a really fancy wooden staircase that was used in the movie "12 Monkeys" - though I don't have a picture of that staircase.
The high cliffs of Svalbard drop steeply into the sea, the eroded green cliffs, remnant snow and aquamarine sea creating an abstract visual impression
Dresser: Ikea, painted blue with hardware from Home Depot. My sweet husband did it for me! (And swore he'd never partake in a Pinterest project ever again.)
Magazine rack (TBH junk stack IRL): Anthropolgie. Was a gift from my awesome MIL for our 3rd anniversary - the theme for year 3 is leather.
Teddy's second appearance of many in this photoshoot...he follows me everywhere. :)

The entrance to our Takayama traditional Japanese Ryokan -- the Hida Gassho-en.There is a wooden plank and mallet on the left side of door that acts as a doorbell. Just inside we were requested to remove our shoes and given slippers. Then invited into the main dining area where we participated in a welcoming tea ceremony around the 'irori', a type of traditional sunken hearth.
