"Rescuing and repurposing granite materials"
We are suppliers of reclaimed historic granite products. Granite wall building block, reclaimed from bridge and foundation demolitions, antique granite curbing, vintage 19th century cobblestones from New England mills, are only some of the materials available at our granite gallery. We provide design/build contractors and architects with historic granite, cobblestone and granite pavers to be used in many aspects of landscape design. Antique driveway paving and entry enhancements, aprons, edging, walkways and walls constructed in these materials gives that venerable “New England” look. In addition, an antique granite step, landing, post or bench makes a handsome period addition to most any landscape.
The entry doors to the mansion are gilded in 10k gold. There's a guard stationed at the doors throughout the open hours of the museum to deter thieves from stealing flakes of gold from the doors!
This it the entry way to my apartment (or ours rather). I share it with an Australian fellow named Matthew who is burly and friendly and a SUPER shy German guy who goes by Wentzel. Wentzel is leaving in March though, although he really wants to stay in Japan. Apparently they have some kind of work-exchange between Germany and Japan, so he could come and live very cheaply for a year and work in Japan. He's going to try to work out some kind of schooling thing, I think. He's only 19 or 20. Anyway, about our entry way... if you notice the size of my boots, you can see that this entry way isn't very big. The recess in the floor is where you are actually supposed to leave your shoes, and change into slippers. But, you can see that we aren't having that. We just kind of leave them by the door in that general area. I will try to only leave on pair out there at a time though.
