My entry for the fifth annual June/July Jamboree on Brikwars. Participants are supposed to create a scenic build.
A gateway in the gardens behind the Guild Inn. This photoset would be a lot more informative if I had bothered to make notes about what all these things were (many of the pieces have little plaques explaining what building they originally came from).
In the Strezlecki desert of Australia a flock of galahs replenish on the only small water avaliable at the base of this lonely tree. Its a rare photo opportunity to get such a clear and symetrical shot of these beautiful birds in flight
in the middle of the desert.

Minutes after the birth of a baby girl in the middle of the night, a midwife and two traditional birth attendants weigh and wrap the newborn and make phone calls to family members to let them know about the baby’s safe arrival and mother’s health status. The health workers are using the light of a We Care Solar Suitcase to examine the baby and the light was used to assist in the birth. Although this health clinic is on the main electric grid in the Upper River Region of The Gambia, electricity is sporadic and turns off every morning at 3 am, leaving all labor cases in the dark if they take place after that time, before the sun comes up. The health workers are calling family members using mobile phones that were charged with the solar suitcase as well.

The «entries» are a nice feature of Belfast's inner city: narrow alleyways where some nice bars hide (which seem strangely absent on the main streets).
