The full entry scene at this year's (2008) Gaylord Texan's holiday season "Ice" Exibit in Grapevine, Texas.
View my most interesting on flickriver.
From the Gaylord Texan website:
The truly spectacular 14,000-square-foot "ICE!" exhibit features a variety of magical holiday scenes and sculptures hand carved by 40 visiting artisans from Harbin, China.
Visitors will feel as though they have been transported to the North Pole as they bundle up in warm parkas and enter this winter wonderland created with TWO MILLION pounds of ice and kept at a wintry 9 degrees.
This year, "ICE!" will showcase several new additions including Old Man Winter blowing snow, dazzling colored ornaments, a winter forest with an ice skating pond, a life-size Santa's lap to sit on, a candy land full of tempting treats, and an entertaining animal band.
Returning favorites will include the thrilling ice slides, 25-foot angel, icicle canopy, and breathtaking Nativity.
PEPP = Planetary Entry Parachute Program
"Construction of flight test unit from which parachutes will be deployed in a series of experiments to check out new techniques for landing unmanned capsules on Mars. A metal skin is being placed over the disc-shaped frame with a central tube which will house the packaged parachute. The unit will be carried to an altitude of about 140,000 miles by a huge balloon. It will then be released and when free from the balloon the unit will be propelled to a downward velocity of about 10,000 miles per hour by eight small rocket engines. This velocity will closely simulate the speed of a capsule entering the Martian atmosphere. When the unit has been propelled downward to 130,000 feet the parachute carrying a small instrument package will be deployed. The disc-shaped carrier will fall freely to the ground, and the parachute and laboratory instrument package will be recovered for inspection and laboratory analysis. The tests are scheduled to begin mid-1966 at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. In some tests Nike sounding rockets will be used to launch the smaller flight units."

"What is the password!?", this entry guardian roared, as I snapped a photo.
"Simba is Great!", I responded.
The fierce guardian purred with satisfaction.

Victoria Avenue. Trefresa House. This Cornish name was used as Trefresa Farm in Cornwall was where his father John Legoe was born. His father was a sea Captain and captained many passenger ships to Australia from the 1850s to the 1870. He captained the maiden voyage of the Yalata to Adelaide, his visit to SA, in 1865. His last voyage to SA was in 1877 when he bought his family with him to settle here. His son Glen became a director of G & R Wills Company and later W Moffin & Co and George Wilcox and Co. He was mainly an importer with these companies and an exporter of meat, wool, hides but also had a pastoral estate at Binnum in the South East. Glen bought his land in Victoria Avenue in 1902 with a house standing on it erected by a previous owner. In 1919 he engaged architects Woods, Bagot, Jory and Laybourne-Smith to prepare drawings for major alterations to the value of around £5000. This work transformed the look and style of the original house. The “new’ residence was built in the English style with a steep tiled roof, wide verandas, round columns, and attic windows. It has the appearance of a British colonial house from hill country in India. The unique appearance of the house includes dormer windows beside a central chimney which softens the massive bulk of the steep roof. Glen Legoe’s Trefresa House was subdivided into 11 properties in 1922 when Glen Avenue was created. Glen Avenue opened up land back to the railway line. The house of 14 main rooms and with over two acres of gardens was sold in 1938 and by 1941 it was owned by Clive Langdon Bonython a member of one of SA’s wealthiest and best known family through investments and ownership of the Advertiser. Clive was a mere accountant and business director. His directorships included Wiles manufacturing Company and Mumzone products etc. The property has superb cast iron gates. The steep roof looks as if designed to cope with tropical downpours or massive winter snows.

I was at an international Futsal competition today and got this stamped on the back of my hand to show I had a ticket. First time I've seen Futsal, it was good. Fast paced 5 a side football with different rules to normal football and very reliant on footwork, passing skill and speed. Thought it fits nicely with the theme for this week.

Where I stand today - changing wall art in the house. This quilted O goes up in the entry today. The lighter area inside the O is a silver and black fabric...the light hit it full on, so it looks a bit odd. But I love this piece so much. This is a photograph from the 4th Annual Meath Spring Half Marathon and 10KM Road Races hosted by Bohermeen AC on the 8th March 2015 at 12:00 at Bohermeen, Ardbraccan, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland. A 10KM race was also held and started one hour before the half marathon. This event has grown quickly in popularity over the past few years with this year's entry of 1,168 with this being a record for both races. The half marathon had 843 entrants while the 10KM race had 325 entrants. This half marathon event is perfectly placed in the Irish running calendar as it provides runners of all levels and abilities an opportunity to test the half marathon distance in preparation for a Spring Marathon or as the first serious running goal in 2015. Bohermeen AC is steeped in Irish athletics history since 1927 and it is this experience and exceptional community spirit and volunteering which has made this event today so successful.

The weather was very suitable for road racing with the exception of a strong headwind at certain parts of the course. However the cool, dry sunny conditions were suitable for fast times and PB performances from runners.
Our full set of photographs from today's event are available on Flickr at the following link https://www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157648897769373/. This set of photographs is mostly of the Half Marathon race but there are some from the 10KM event.

I want to download these pictures to my computer or device?
You can download the photographic image here direct to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. How to download will vary slight from device to device and from browser to browser. However - look for a symbol with three dots 'ooo' or the link to 'View/Download' all sizes. When you click on either of these you will be presented with the option to download the image. Remember just doing a right-click and "save target as" will not work on Flickr.
I want get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?
If you just need these photographs for online usage then they can be used directly once you respect their Creative Commons license and provide a link back to our Flickr set if you use them. For offline usage and printing all of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available free, at no cost, at full image resolution.

If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.
We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Creative Commons aims to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets
