[SHIPtember 2013 Entry; ParLUGment Crazy 88s Challenge]

The IHS Rocktopula was built in 3853 by the Indi Halton Space Hotel and Cruise Lines to travel at non-relativistic speeds between planets and moons in the Sigma Orionis system. It has a capacity of 1400 passengers and 600 crew. It is a luxury liner, with various entertainment and activity rooms along the central corridor, and front sections. Passengers can dine at one of luxury 10 restaurants, gamble their intergalactic credits at the casino, and partake in zero-G squash, zero-G laser tag and other sporting activities. Passengers are also able to take advantage of the Spa to rejuvenate, as well as slow-sleep beds for reduced aging on longer cruises. Two observation towers adorn the mid-section of the ship for passengers to take in interstellar and planetary sights.

The liner is 1550 metres long, and has a top speed of 2500 kilometres per second. It has 3 main docking ports: one opening into the front reception area where guests arrive, and two along the midsection for loading supplies and crew.

The liner is rated 4 stars by Intergalactic Cruising Monthly.

Notes on the build:

- Incorporates 88 Rock tops (Element ID: 4506778 - Design ID: 42284) as part of the ParLUGment Crazy 88s challenge

- Uses RC train track as the main structural element to gain the length and rigidity (I was surprised how strong it was)

- One-hand swooshable

- I don't usually do spaceships; this is my first SHIP

- 155 studs long, 41 studs wide, 25 studs high

Teōtīhuacān reached its peak from the 1st to the mid-6th century C.E. The main structures include the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, Avenue of the Dead, and the Temple of Quetzalcoatl (feathered serpent). Teotihuacan was home to as many as 125,000 people. The name Teōtīhuacān was given by the Aztecs long after the city had been abandoned c. 550 C.E. The original name is lost.

When you enter the door to the two suites at the B&B, this stunning stairway filled with art is what greets you. The stairway leads up to the original portion of the home/earthship. Joan and John Dobson live in this wonderful house and have the two suites on a lower level. Breakfast and socializing happen in a great room at the very top of the stairs. A 270 degree view from the windows offers an ever-changing view of the Rio Grande River Gorge area just down the hill. Fabulous place!!!

Launch-Entry Suit

Space Shuttle

The Launch-Entry Suit was a partial-pressure suit worn by Space Shuttle astronauts to protect against loss of cabin pressure during ascent and descent. Introduced after the 1986 Challenger accident, it was used until the late 1990s, when the full pressure Advanced Crew Escape Suit was phased out.

Informally called the "pumpkin suit" for its bright color, it pressurized at 3.2 pounds per square inch, and the inflated internal bladder exerted mechanical pressure on the crewmember's body. The helmet visor and neck dam were pressure seals, but the gloves were not; they connected to the suit by a tube and needle valve. The Launch-Entry Suit included an integrated "g-suit" to prevent blood from pooling in the lower body during reentry. The vest-like harness worn over the suit contained a parachute, breathing air tank, and survival gear for an emergency bail-out.

This suit was never worn in space. The gloves, boots and harness were worn in training or flight. All launch-entry helmets are still in use in NASA's inventory of flight gear.

Beautiful dishes - shabby road sign ......

something about this form of entry ticket (which were distributed to us and then duly taken away 5 minutes later) brought up a few doubts of what i will call the "advertised quality experience" of the roman baths museum.

Digitised image from the Town Hall Photographer's Collection - GB127.M850.

The Town Hall Photographer’s Collection is a large photographic collection held in Manchester City Council’s Central Library archives, ranging in date from 1956 to 2007.

The collection consists of tens of thousands of images, covering the varied areas of work of Manchester Corporation and latterly, Manchester City Council.

The photographs were taken by staff photographers, who were tasked to document the work of Corporation/Council departments and, in doing so, captured many aspects of Manchester life and history, including significant changes to the Manchester landscape.

The collection includes many different formats from glass negatives, to slides, prints, CDs and even a couple of cine films.

What is especially exciting is that the majority of these images have never before been available in a digital format and therefore have only ever been seen by a handful of people.

A team of dedicated Staff and Volunteers are currently working on the systematic digitisation of the negatives held within the collection.

This album represents the result of their work to date.

This is one of my favorite buildings ever, but I'm not sure the entry has kicked it, and the sign seems to date it in the 1980's? Does anyone know if this was added after the design?
