Enlighten Canberra is an outdoor annual art and cultural festival held in Canberra, Australia featuring illuminating light installations and projections, performances from local and interstate musicians, a short film festival and the Canberra Balloon Spectacular.

The festival is an Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government initiative held annually in early March, encouraging people to "See Canberra in a whole new light." The centrepiece of Enlighten Canberra is the illuminating of Canberra's cultural institutions after dark, including Old Parliament House, Parliament House and the National Gallery of Australia (since the 2011 event) as well as the National Portrait Gallery and Questacon (since the 2012 event). There is also live music, film screenings and after-hours tours.

Since its inception, Enlighten has become increasingly popular, attracting 115,000 visitors in 2013 and 131,500 in 2014. Attendance rose again in 2015, to 287,874 visitors.

Evening sunlight peeking through the torn leaves. I loved the tack sharp focus on the edges of the leaves.

Streaming tip vortices in the 'very' damp conditions, the much vaunted and long-awaited Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II caught departing RAF Fairford.

In this case it was US Marine Corps Bu.AerNo.168726/VM18 from VMFAT-501 heading off to make her debut at the Farnborough International Airshow.

Six F-35's arrived at Fairford for RIAT - one RAF, two USMC and three USAF - all will be heading back to the US to continue the work-up to service introduction.

According to the Siddhartha Gautama Buddha (566 - 486 B.C.) desire is the main cause of all the evil and suffering of human life. Buddha from the ancient Indian languages of Pali and Sanskrit. It means 'one who has awakened'. Buddha taught us the eightfold path. Right conduct, right motive, right speech, right effort, right resolve, right livelihood, right attention and right concentration (meditation) to gain over suffering.

Siddhartha Gautama sat down beneath a tree and meditated several more than one month but less than two months. He did not rise until he had found the truth.

The tree under which Buddha meditated came to be known as the Bodhi tree (the tree of wisdom). The place became known as Bodh Gaya (in north- eastern part of India).

Buddha followers believed that he attained nirvana on the day of the full moon in the month of Vaishakha (Vesak in Pali). This is now a Holy Day for the Buddhists (Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Myanmar(Burma), Singapore, Some part of Indonesia, Vietnam, Nepal, and Taiwan).

This Buddha is for the first and only Burmese (Myanmar) monastery in Vanta,Finland.

I posted a photo last week of the outside of this place. I didn't really go into much detail then, but I drove 2.5 hours then was too chicken to stay inside. I lasted about five minutes then literally thought I was going to faint from fear. I mention this in passing to Ward who immediately said he wanted to go and would go with me if I went back. We headed back out there Sunday. We explored all four floors but skipped the basement. This was my favorite shot from the day.

Hopefully this is not a political comment on what our Government thinks of science. But I think it might be.
