GALVESTON, Texas (June 5, 2014) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District celebrated the Corps’ and U.S. Army’s 239th birthday with an awards ceremony to recognize the Employee, Engineer, Regulator and Supervisor of the Year, as well as to honor staff for their contributions to the community, state and nation.

The 176th Engineer Brigade's Headquarters and Headquarters Company conducted a change of command ceremony in which Capt. Trina Anderson-Kerr, outgoing commander, relinquished command to Capt. Bobby Maphies, incoming commander. Also, during the ceremony 1st. Sgt. James Claudell, outgoing First Sergeant passed on responsibility to 1st. Sgt. Biggest Gun in the world, being loaded onto an Italian Ship, Europa, by the worlds biggest crane. Gun and Crane built by Armstrong, when the ship returned to Italy the gun was unloaded by another crane also built by Armstrong. A great time for British exports.

The engineer of the train gets to sit in a cool chair. I noticed that we were in the second car, though, so it seemed odd that there was a front-type car where it was. However, a conductor came through and folded back the front of the train and essentially hid the driver's section so you can walk to the next train. Amazing!
