CPKC's empty northbound ballast train 3GPS starts down the depression under the Government Bridge in downtown Davenport, IA. The pumps are working overtime to keep the depression clear of water.
The railroad would lose the battle in a few hours as the mainline was shut down near Mound St with floodgates closed to protect the water plant.

For the Macro Monday challenge "Plastic" (April 6th 2020)
So much to choose from! Our world is full of all manner of plastic - I didn't know where to start, so in the end I took my small blue water bottle, and tried to make it a little mysterious ;o)
HMM to everyone, and I hope the week goes well for you, and stay safe!

In last November we had a couple cold spells. This photo was taken on one of those days in Makkarlahti bay, Soukka. Only the shallow waters had some signs of freezing.
Coal empties destined for loading at Skyline Mine roll upgrade through the upper Price River canyon. This part of the Price is locally known as "Fish Creek" and is a popular spot for anglers.
I had to go out today to see how it looks like in my hometown Cologne.
It's scary to see almost no people on the street in a big City with one Million citizens.
The empty train station, the square in front of the cathedral, where tourist crowds usually take their selfies ... just a few.
The street cafes are closed ......

There is my shopping cart again. It's empty because there is no more money for food, I just spend it all on a new Canon EOS 40D.
Life is full and overflowing with the new. But it is necessary to empty out the old to make room for the new to enter.

Photo 8 - I finally hung around after closing at Magic Kingdom last week to get the "empty Main Street" photo. I was amazed at how long it takes people to find their way out. This was taken about an hour and 45 minutes after closing. The last people on the street filtered by me and I snapped a 30 second exposure. Before I could get the shorter exposures, more people came down and some cast members walked onto the street and parked there, about halfway down. I was still able to salvage this photo. If you look closely, you can see a blue streak where a cast member walked through my shot with an iPad.

Continuing my series on beachside plant life, this third image features a spent Milkweed seedpod.
Known as one of the main host plants for Monarch
butterflies, Milkweed plants grow wild just about everywhere, and many gardeners are planting them in their home landscapes to help the butterflies get through their population-decline crisis.
The seedpods fruit in late summer, distributing all their feathery seeds into the air throughout the fall months. Then through the winter, there is nothing left but the dried seed husk and seed core that I've photographed here.
The stem is dead as well, and it will soon fall to the ground (or in this case, the beach sand) and will cycle back into nutrients for the next generation of Milkweed plants!
Enjoy, and have a great weekend, everyone.
