Empty shops on the Centre Dandenong Road shopping strip in Dingley. The strip was fully occupied for years before a difficult retail climate in recent times. High rents in this strip have had a major impact here, according to this article from the Moorabbin-Kingston Leader.

Not a sight you see very often on the Bakerloo line.
Opened in 1906 the Bakerloo line seems to have the most twists and turns of all the undergrounds lines!
Line was supposedly built as a quicker way to get to Lord's Cricket Ground
I have been meaning to get out and work with my Busch Pressman camera and finally did just that yesterday. I still have so much to learn. The entire process is both laborious and cathartic in some way. I went to Wengerlawn, a tiny crossroad village north of Brookville where I had found an abandoned farmhouse earlier this year. I was expecting the owner to run me off (from next door) but I never saw them. Maybe this excursion was meant to be.
Processing the film last night was also an interesting experience, working with all the sheets of film in open tanks. I wish I could print these on actual silver based paper to see what they really look like. I also think the next time I'll shoot slower film. HP5+ is great film, no doubt. Considering I used the original Wollensak lens for these I'm quite happy. I have a Symmar-S as well but it's even longer than the stock lens. I'm a wide angle shooter if I can for landscapes. Maybe time to see what I can afford.
Now the spring is totally gone and the derailer moves freely. It's weird how floppy it feels, and yet the pivots have essentially no play at all
What shall we use
To fill the empty spaces Where we used to talk?
How shall I fill the final places?
How should I complete the wall?

(An empty hall factory of Kli Logatec, once a respectful furniture producer from Slovenia. They are closing the last production lines by the 31/12/2012. Reason: nothing remained to be raided by another greedy manager. The company bankrupted literally in the middle of forest.)

Another shot from the day when everything went to pot. The motorway wasn't strictly empty as a lorry passed just as I shot this and it's tail end can be seen by the left hand tree.
Thanks for your views, comments and faves.

I still have no idea how I managed to get this shot without any people in it.
Oh right, we woke up at like 8am to come here!
So I decided to shoot the lights on the Two Rivers Bridge last night, but I just wasn't getting what I wanted and everything seemed to be a rehash of another shot. As it got darker, the bridge emptied out until it was just me (it was pretty cold at this point) and walking back to the car, I really liked how this section looked, so I grabbed a few shots. As much as I liked these shots, I really struggled with the edit, doing one last night, then completely abandoning it today in favor of what you see here.
On a side note, I was on the bridge when the moon rose over the horizon, and it was absolutely one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Not only was it huge, but it was a deep red/orange that you don't see very often. Since the sky was clear, I had a great view.
With the railroad long gone and no businesses in town, this abandoned grain elevator in Gerlaw,IL stands silently above this small, rural community.
This photo was taken in the Vancouver Airport, the night that I slept overnight on a bench in said airport. Everything was pretty dead except for a few people wandering around doing their thing. I don't think you get to see a major airport like this so empty very often and I really liked the guy walking alone.
I have been pretty behind on my photography of late, but hope to get back to posting things more regularly in the near future.
