An embossed leather strip hangs from the end of art collective Dumbo Press’ ‘Death Metal Printing Press’ at the Co-Prosperity Sphere in Bridgeport, Chicago, on June 11. The interactive art piece has an attached stove burner which is used to heat metal plates. These plates are then used to emboss strips of leather, paper or pieces of wood.

I'm waiting for lots of goodies to arrive, but I really wanted to try some of the techniques in THCC102 with what I've already got. Here's a go at embossing through a Dylusions stencil.

Polished Sand is a venetian plaster finish with a raised texture that has been burnished (polished with a carbonized steel trowel). An embossed design has also been burnished and adds to the 'wow!' effect. Visit us at Venetian Plaster Artist NJ

These are the finished "Embossed Leaves" socks out of the Winter '05 Interweave Knits. I used KnitPicks "Essential" sockyarn in the color called "Fawn."

It was a fun pattern to knit and I'm thinking about doing a second pair out of some light green speckled cotton-wool blend sockyarn I have.

So I bought this hat. A fedora. And this shop, being respectable, has the coolest tools and gadgets you can imagine, all left from a regrettably bygone age. Needless to say, I'm really hoping to go back just to take pictures.

I saw the technique demonstrated by Jennifer McGuire and wanted to have a go. This is on gold shimmer paper and I really like the effect. Hero Arts sentiment.

A really interesting facade with embossed panels

done with a fine finishing nail set pressed lightly into copper sheet resting on hard cardboard. It leaves a hammered in dent with a scale copper nailhead showing.
