by Samuel Akem
May 18 – August 17, 2026
Samuel Akem is a multidisciplinary artist, exploring the ways the physical self collides and intertwines with the many environments, experiences, people, and ideas one interacts with through life. In the context of ethnicity, race, and sexuality, he works to define social and cultural feelings of displacement. Using self-portraiture as a medium to investigate and vigorously explore the mind and body, creating realities drawing from the imagination and lived experience. Akem is originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, and is currently based in Reno, pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Nevada, Reno.
