We learned that the ironwork pattern fronting the Bradbury Building's twin elevator shafts is called the "tree of life": a factoid begging for further research.

If you look in the center, you can see that the elevator shafts are still present. I would guess that they provide support for much of the building and destroying them would cause the building to collapse.

Former Manitoba Pool elevator, demolished in 2018. The 42,000-bushel wooden grain elevator in Forrest was built in 1927 and operated by the Manitoba Pool Elevators. A 66,000-bushel wooden crib annex was built beside it in 1956. The facility closed in 1980 and was used for private grain storage. It was demolished in late November 2018.

The original 19th century elevators looking very modern in the Monadnock Building. The machinery that operates them undoubtedly updated, but the impression made is still very authentic to its day.

The elevators at the BEA SF office don't have buttons on the inside, only the outside. I still can't wrap my mind around it. Ever time I get into the elevator I look for the buttons.

Take the stairs up the Effiel Tower since this was the line on a 'slow' day.

Mother nature has reclaimed the land around this old grain elevator.

Thanks to the thick base, the elevator floor is level with the main floor - and luckily the height of the entire thing worked out, too.

We liked taking pictures of our whole group in the elevators. This one was on the ferry ride from Finland to Sweden at the beginning of the trip. Mostly I just looked so super hot...I don't even recognize myself!
