Looking up at the corner of Wacker Avenue and Franklin Street in Chicago's Loop, the elliptical shaped building on the left is the Hyatt Center. The building in the middle, located one block back, is the Franklin Center and the building on the right is 111 South Wacker.

Fortress Battice (B) was of strategic importance in the Second World War and was heavily armed.
The ammunition supply were locked up deep underground and were taken from there to the mighty cannons by ammunition elevators..

We were driving through downtown Vancouver, me in the passenger seat with my camera, of course, because I love photographing the reflections in windows. The large window at the left is the Vancouver Music School and you can see, in the reflections, the buildings on the other side of the street, as well as bits of a crane. What I didn't realize till I uploaded the photos, was that the music school actually had musical scores all over their windows. That was not something I added after the fact :)
An old grain elevator and silos still stand as the world around seems to slowly fall down and fade away!

These old elevators were designed for function not so much for form or prettiness. Over time though their patina transforms them into a wonderful artistic looking form.

On the left, a part of the Lacerda Elevator, transporting people that connects the high to the low city, in the lower part is the Modelo Market, there are several souvenirs from Bahia, and around it, the second largest bay in the world, the Bay of All Saint. Very visited place by tourists from all over the world

Het markeert de zuidelijke ingang van de Rheinufer-tunnel, die daarom de parallellogramvormige plattegrond is.
Het gebouw beschikt over een atrium met 15 verdiepingen en dubbele gevels, waardoor natuurlijke ventilatie ook op hoger gelegen verdiepingen mogelijk is. Het totale bruto vloeroppervlak is ongeveer 30.000 m2 (320.000 sq ft). [4] Sinds 1999 is de stadspoort de zetel van de staatskanselarij van de premiers van Noord-Rijnland-Westfalen.

The building was designed by Düsseldorf-based architecture firm Petzinka, Overdiek und Partner and completed in 1998. It marks the Southern entrance of Rheinufertunnel, which is also reason for its parallelogram-shaped floor plan.
The building features a 15-story atrium and a double-facades, allowing natural ventilation even on higher elevation floors. The total gross floor area is some 30,000 m2 (320,000 sq ft) .[4] Since 1999, the Stadttor is seat of the state-chancellery of the Prime ministers of North Rhine-Westphalia.
