this is a photo of the ceiling of an elevator in the parking lot of Baptist Hospital. It's my assumption that they use a flurescent bulb to light the elevator through a black plastic panel of circular cut-outs. Very unapealing, and dirty and some have dead bugs in them...funny how you can turn somthing like this into a beautiful piece!
Almost renovated Tech Library elevator. Note the clean non-mildewed light fixture. Probably really good for the lungs.
I was so scared that the elevator was truly haunted, the doors would close and then I'd go whizzing into hell, or the sub-basement.
Here I've driven all of the trailing edge rivets except for the three cleco holes. Next I just take out the clecos, populate those three holes, and drive them without the benefit of clecos holding the assembly to the back rivet bar. It means that the elevator slides around a bit during riveting, but otherwise isn't a problem.

I put a sofa in the elevator from the basement, making sure to check that the sofa wasn't touching either the front or the back doors. I hit the button to get to the loading dock, and after a long time, the elevator stopped about a foot above the 3rd floor and wouldn't move.

The grain elevators in Horace, North Dakota, located right at the point where the Red River Valley & Western Railroad's 4th Subdivision currently ends. At one point, the track continued to the northeast from here toward Fargo. The tracks through here were built by the Fargo & Southwestern Railroad in 1882 and were, for many years, owned by the Northern Pacific.
At the nearby Woodley Park Metro Station, DC fire fighters rescue a family trapped 60 feet below in the elevator.

This was posted in the elevator in my hotel. The elevator felt like a death trap. It shook and was slow, and kind of thudded when we'd get to the 1st floor. Well, it is July 2009, and the inspection permit expired 7 months ago!
