I have gone nuts in recent month with shopping for electronics. First it was the video camera; then the laptop. The iPod Touch came just a couple weeks ago. My monitor for my computer was acting up and I decided to look for a new one. For just a few dollars more over the price of a regular computer monitor, I was able to get an HD TV that can also be my monitor.
I'm in fat city, and a little broke. Oh well. What's retirement for anyway?

My phone died recently. I think the charging circuit quit working, because it would recognize being plugged into power, but the battery never charged. It has since been replaced.

Vehicle Highlights
The 2008 Kia Sorento gains a second engine choice. Sorento has a traditional truck-type platform, seating for five, and rear-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. Base, LX, and EX models are offered. Base and LX models are powered by a 242-hp 3.3-liter V6 engine, while EX models have a 262-hp 3.8-liter V6. Maximum towing capacity is 5000 lb. A 5-speed automatic with manual shift gate is the sole transmission. Kia offers two 4WD setups, both with a low-range gear for off-roading. The standard system cannot be left engaged on dry pavement, but Kia's Torque-On-Demand can be. The latter is exclusive to the EX and is included in the available Luxury Package. Available safety equipment includes ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and a driver's knee airbag. Exclusive EX options include heated front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control. This evaluation is based on preview test drives.

History of DIY audio
Audio DIY came to prominence in the 50s to 60s, as audio reproduction was relatively new and the technology "complex," audio reproduction equipment, and in particular high performance equipment, was not offered at the retail level. Kits and designs were available for consumers to build their own equipment. Famous vacuum tube kits from Dynaco, Heathkit, and McIntosh, as well as solid state (transistor) kits from Hafler allowed for consumers to build their own hi fidelity systems. Books and magazines were published which explained new concepts regarding the design and operation of vacuum tube and (later) transistor circuits.
While audio equipment has become easily accessible in the current day and age, there still exists an interest in building one's own equipment, including amplifiers, speakers, preamplifiers, and even CD players and turntables. Today, a network of companies, parts vendors, and on-line communities exist to foster this interest. DIY is especially active in loudspeaker and in tube amplification. Both are relatively simple to design and fabricate without access to sophisticated industrial equipment. Both enable the builder to pick and choose between various available parts, on matters of price as well as quality, allow for extensive experimentation, and offer the chance to use exotic or highly labor-intensive solutions, which would be expensive for a manufacturer to implement, but only require personal labor by the DIYer, which is a source of satisfaction to them.

I rigged a NERF Vulcan/Havok Fire EBF-25 up so that its firing could be controlled by computer, then used the motion detecting software 'motion' for linux to have the gun fire when it detects the door opening.
The gun itself has three chained ammo belts, for a total of 74 shots, and a 12.6V lipo battery instead of the 9V D-cell battery pack it would use stock. The firing mechanism is an Arduino driving a servo connected to some pencils to pull the trigger, and there's a Logitech C300 webcam on the gun to source video.
