The front panel is quite nice. It is clear plexi with a printed adhesive sticker (looks like thin vinyl) applied to the back side. The screws here are what you want to remove if you want to get inside.

This started because someone commented that you shouldn't put your address on Flickr (which I agree with), however I thought I would go one better and put my phone number on.
This is a Signal Generator. This URM-25 was made for the Navy by Federal Manufacturing & Engineering Corp. of Brooklyn, N.Y.
My sample was made for the "Navy Department - Bureau of Ships" and probably dates to the early 1960's. This thing is a beast! It weighs about 25 pounds and is built like a tank. It appears to work well (I have tested it). My one criticism is that the frequency divisions appear to be a bit coarse. It may be that I just don't know how to read it correctly.
This one will be a bear to clean up. It has paint spills (upper left corner), tape marks, and permanent marker labels all over it. But then that's how I get these things for almost nothing. Serial number is 214.
(I'm told you can hook a microphone up to these and get on the AM band, just like those Fisher-Price radio mikes.)
-and yes, I do have the cover but the manual and all the accessories except one are gone. I got a Navy manual off the Internet ...some 90 pages...have to read it sometime.-
Just amazing product. Visually stunning, beautiful bezel-less design. A nod to the designer Charles Eames with the stand...

Update: h2testw reveals that the flash drive is fake. After 6.9 GB of testing, the device disappears due to an error. On Linux, that error is multiple lines of something like "device descriptor read/64, error -110"

After our basement flooded, I had to pull out part of our collection to check on it all. It was fun to see them all again!

The Quantaray lens does not mount the D40 but was held backward against the D40 camera body by hand. The Quantaray lens was originally used on my Minolta XG-M. The lens is 28 years old! Who needs to go out and buy a fancy macro lens when you can do it with lenses you already have! Just make sure they have aperture rings. You won't be able to use any auto functions or metering. It's manual focus all the way using your feet or arms to get the correct focusing distance.You alse need lots of light.
This was an electronic car starter. I found it on the ground in pieces. I thought it would make for a good macro photo.
