The computer floor of a very large electronics store in Akihabara, the electronics mecca of Japan, if not the world
so this is where all the singaporeans get their electronics. there's no concept of best buy or other electronics retailers. it's a gigantic indoor electronics mall. the bottom floor is consumer electronics. as you get higher up, there's individual electronic components for people who like to build their computers.

A curious object (actually one of 5) I picked up in an electronics surplus grab bag. (Well "box" if you want to pick nits.) Certainly resembles some kind of adapter or socket, but I've never see its like before.
The metal tabs within and without are very fine and do not offer much surface contact area. Very curious indeed.
I messed up the LCD on a beloved piece of electronics. Everything is fine except for the LCD. Anyone has a clue if the LCD only can be replaced? If so, what is this called, and is it easy to get one? The back of the screen says "00-0280". Any hints greatly appreciated!

A quick project; haven't done much hardware hacking like this before. It was a lot of fun.
Nate found the little iPod dock at Goodwill. A great addition to the electronics workbench.
