In this series Paul walked from the eastern end of Platform 2 to Platform 4, then along public paths and roads north of the tracks to the eastern end of the works to widen the trackbed ready for fourth track to be laid.

This bridge was massively engineered from the start and has been massively reinforced since, not least because of he cracks visible on the eastern side.
To the western side is the pedestrian entrance to both platforms, complete with British Rail sign.

Pictures taken during an organised tour of Bletchely Power Signal Box, whihc has been decommsioned with operations transerd to Rugby. The tour was organised by the Railway Children, Netwrok Rail & London Midland.
Sorry they are fantastic but it was a very popular tour!
Bletchley PSB was opened in the mid 60's as part of the WCML electrification and closed at Christmas 2012
A Northern Class 156 crosses Sankey Viaduct which has graffiti mainly on the parapet.
The Himalayan Balsam in the foreground is also a problem, but out of the scope of Phase 2 electrification.

The Bernina Express is a train connecting Chur (or Davos) in Switzerland to Poschiavo and Tirano in Italy by crossing the Swiss Engadin Alps. For most of its journey, the train also runs along the World Heritage Site known as the Rhaetian Railway in the Albula / Bernina Landscapes.
The train is operated by the Rhaetian Railway company for the purpose of sightseeing. It takes the form of an enhanced regional service between Tirano and Chur or Davos: panoramic coaches with enlarged windows and multi-lingual (English, Italian and German) audio guide on board. It is not an express in the sense of being a high-speed train; passengers must make a seat reservation either directly when they purchase Bernina Express tickets, or pay a small supplement on top of their regional train tickets. The Bernina Express is popular with tourists and connects in Tirano with the Post Bus service via Lake Como in Italy to Lugano in Switzerland.
The Albula line and the Bernina line on the Bernina Express's route were jointly declared a World Heritage Site in 2008. The trip on the Bernina Express through this World Heritage Site is a four-hour railway journey across 196 bridges, through 55 tunnels and across the Bernina Pass at 2,253 metres above sea. The entire line is 1,000 mm (3 ft 3 3⁄8 in) (metre gauge) and electrified.
The Albula line was constructed between 1898 and 1904; it has been operated by the Rhaetian Railway since its auguration. The Bernina line was built between 1908 and 1910 and operated independently until the 1940s, when it was acquired by the Rhaetian Railway. The Bernina Express uses gradients of 7% to negotiate the difference in height of about 1800 meters from the summit at Ospizio Bernina to Tirano.

This is a chronological photo journey from the day before envision until the end. My intentions were capture the emotions of a particular moment. The energy of the gathering was electrifying with travelers and music lovers from all over the world all centralizing in the small pacific coastal ranch of La Merced in Costa Rica. From amazing art installations, music, dancing, panels, ceremonies, workshops, and more; there was plenty to experience throughout the 4 days of Envision. This being the case, the results were a few thousand photos from which I could only choose a select few. This album is only from my perspective, and in the nature of good health and what kind of lifestyle Envision promotes, I respected my body and mind and slept a few nights that were surely memorable. For this reason, you can encounter full envision experience by heading over to the Envision Facebook page and viewing the various other photo albums from a myriad of very talented photographers.

Whilst following the NW electrification I have encountered many pleasant, professional Orangemen who are clearly proud of their work and happy to spend a few minutes sharing their expertise. Today was another smashing example.
Two chaps working on the southern end of Platform 5 told me what's what and readily agreed to use my camera to take shots from a non-public area.
I really appreciate their unselfishness and good humour.

Two much larger than usual bases have been installed between Platforms 3 and 4, with one especially prominent.
Woken up in a strange frame of mind this morning, thought I'd upload a sunset to brighten up the morning, then changed my mind and have decided upon this for the moment!
Taken a few days ago when out with photographer friend Rob Funffinger and although the location is immaterial in this type of photo, this is the transformer next to Nash Lighthouse!
Now I really must get in the bathroom, got a busy day ahead, as some of you know, with lots of things which need finalising before this evening!

A northbound train belts into the tunnel at a speed unthinkable two years ago.
No obvious signs of electrification work yet between station and tunnel.
The changes afoot at Allerton Depot are not trivial.
The fleet of Northern Electrics constantly grows and now it appears from what I am told and can see that the depot building is being extended. Furthermore, the trackwork and wiring at the western end of the site is material.
All this with trains whizzing past and using the depot.
Open heart surgery with the patient awake and going about his daily business.
This shot was taken from a Lime Street to Manchester Oxford Road all stations, looking northeast.
The track furthest from camera is a depot track with 1961 overhead wiring in place. Work is in hand to upgrade that wiring to modern standards - eg the new mast in centre shot awaiting fixings - and convert it to a 'headshunt'. The end of this track can just be made out at extreme right of shot.
The middle track the 'Up and Down Electric' bi-directional, 3rd-rail electrified single track running parallel to the track my train is on.. It is not only third rail electrified but as can be seen it, has 1961 vintage OHLE above.
We passed under Brunt Lane bridge a few yards before.
West of the tracks immediately north of Bridge 55 is what appears to be electrical gear in anticipation of the forthcoming electrification from Blackwell down the Lickey Incline to Bromsgrove.

It shows work to the south of the tracks at Gibraltar Farm. The exercise involved diverting National Grid wires which crossed ("oversailed") the to-be-electrified railway with too little clearance for safety.
The wires were cut then replaced by a new set of wires which passed under the tracks through a newly drilled bore.
Wrinkley added: "The north side cable is terminated about 200 metres before the overhead cable crossing point, the cable then goes underground south under the track and terminator. That track was used as access for the south side.
I think this route was chosen rather that tunnelling from the last post before the crossing on the north side because the ground in that area is very marshy and access would be very difficult. As it is, they had to make an access road to the north side terminator using timber boards.
The redundant cable is disconnected at both ends and some of it is lying in the field."

A USFWS crew made up of biologists and technicians from the Columbia Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office and the Great Plains Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office deploy an electrified dozer trawl to sample for Silver and Bighead carp to collect relative abundance data and aging structures.
