Wrinkley added: "All new masts are by the Down (northbound) line, almost complete between Ladybridge and Dean Clough, two missing near Dean Clough Bridge. Also two missing just before Ladybridge, but they are on the ground waiting to go in. The next four north of Ladybridge are in position waiting to be erected. There are also three more masts by the Down line at Ladybridge. Three types of mast have been used.

No masts visible from Dean Clough looking towards Mayor Street and some piles are still well out of the ground.

There is also a new base next to Dean Clough bridge near the concrete anchor point base that has been there for some time.

I took a photo of one of the many small white bags which happened to be open, can’t work out what it is, but it’s not stone."

Electric trains started passenger-carrying services on several diagrams between Manchester Victoria and Blackpool North on Monday 11th February 2019.

Not all possible services were electrified, nor were the Salford to Euxton Junction speed limits raised, but nevertheless on that day the line jumped from zero electric services to several electric services in a middle sized bang. All such trains were composed of a single four car Class 319 EMU.

This shot shows one service waiting to set off northwards from Manchester Victoria.

He added: "I went for a walk along the line yesterday. A lot of plant and materials, but no activity, it must be a night job as they are very close to the track.

They are replacing or putting in new drainage starting at the existing ditch that runs towards Bolton from just west of Ladybridge on the north side of the line. It then goes under the line to the south side and and they are currently about 100yds short of Beaumont Road bridge. It looks like it will go all the way back to Lostock station, judging from the amount of material. Murphys have set up camp just past the station car park.

They have pulled all the old concrete cable ducting to one side, so they must be replacing that as well. There’s some minor tree trimming, but that’s just to get their plant down the track.

You will see from the photos that there are now bollards at each end of the Ladybridge."

There has been discussion about the coding and numbering scheme for electrification masts and their relation, if any, to the Engineers' Line Reference (ELR) of the stretch of line next to which they stand.

The Mast references from Deal Street Junction, Salford to Euxton Junction are of the form MG nn xx where "MG" mnemonically refers to the Manchester-to-Glasgow line (Manchester to the WCML). nn and xx are typically pairs of numbers, so "MG13 21" means mast 21 in section 13 of the line MG". The ELRs for Deal St to Euxton Jct are MVE1 as far as Bolton then MVE2 the rest of the way to Euxton.

The debate then extended to the overlaps along branching lines, notably north west at Salford Crescent, north east at Bolton and west at Lostock.

The ELR of the Blackburn line north east from Bolton is BBB, but the few hundred yards of overlap wiring do not differ from the "parent" MG nn xx format, except, perhaps, by the suffix "A" as shown here.

Twyla, I am very disappointed she has marks on her face, little dots and I don't think they are freckles, I thought they were just hairs and I could wipe them off, I should have paid more attention and grabbed a different one, and I paid full price too, apart from that I do like her, her hair though like the others not perfect but what Twyla doll is? her outfit is very cute too, I noticed her shadow things on her legs are gone and she only has a bit on her arm the dark she has only one dark arm, that's a bit of a shame, her pet thing is cute, she's awesome just can't get past the marks I don't know what to do, her hair is gonna need some care anyway on top of it all, Clawdeen also has a mark what is going on? loving the new sister body though.

I have a batch of photo albums I've had for years - going back to round about age 7 or 8. This is the first photograph in those albums.

Don't know the year, but it's definitely Christmas. The subject is my new Lego castle, which I'd decided to enhance with true care and attention to historical detail, by adding the electric lights from my Lego train set.

I think we can't deny that it's a serious improvement over the original design and I'm stunned Lego didn't think of it first.

The photograph incidentally wasn't taken by me, but by my dad. He had a lot more photographic talent than I had back then. And a far superior camera! The person in the background with a balloon is my Granddad - my mum's dad - who is still going to this day

On Monday 16th March 2015 and Tuesday 17th March the Network Rail test train 'MENTOR' ran a series of passes over the Wigan Branch and Ince Moss Chord to test whether the wiring and track were fit for juice and use.

The southbound run on the Tuesday was an hour later than timetabled, but nevertheless it ran in sufficient light for Paul to capture it running through St Helens.

A pair of Northern DMUs head south past the first two mast bases installed near Bolton station. Reg took this shot from Lever Street footbridge looking south, the station is behind him

One base is approx alongside the middle of the nearest carriage, the other can just be made out beyond the further end of the train.

Out of sight in the left distance is the electrification workbase which Reg described as looking busy with lots of piles ready for installation.

Hello there folks,

How are you?

My name is Sebastian and i subscribed specialy because i had to share this great idea...

It's the most simple Do it Your Self Ringlight there can possible be!

I didn't see this idea around anywhere on Flickr and i searched alot for these things so if i am right i might set a new trend here.

Here's the thing: a friend of mine showed his new 23inch apple monitor and talked about how bright it whas and how it almost functioned as a lamp to light his room with, and demonstrated it to me in the dark.

I had my new Canon 30D with me and all the sudden i thought, yup, it's big, it's bright... Hey! it's a great candidate for a ringlight.!

So we quickly created some white shapes on black backgrounds and played around with these and we had some GREAT results!

Later on when i whas alone at my moms place, i whas sitting behind her old 15inch CRT monitor and thought: would the same trick work with this small thing? Well... here are the results of that session and of other sessions too, so judge for yourself.

You want to do this too?

There are some things you must know first though.

A monitor is in the end not THAT bright, so you need a dark room with as litle other light as possible.

You also must have a camera with good ISO performance, i shot this pictures on ISO 1600, and trust me, you will need it, shutter speeds are sometimes way below 1/30.

A fast lens, with a minimal F2.8 will help you here as well, and a good lowlight autofocus too, there is always manualfocus ofcourse.

Then when you match the most of these requirements there is only one thing left to do:

Point your camera at your face with it's back facing the monitor in the middle of your DIY ringlight shape , hold very still and say:... Cheese!!!

I Added some "Monitor Ringlights" (as i call them), so you can take of right away.

So have fun, it's the easiest way to find out what a ringlight will do to your pictures.

Greetings,

Sebastien,

...and off we go. One man leading and three steadying the swinging load....

The initial plan was to catch sunset from a 40 storey block at bishan, but I left house late and it suddenly stormed while on the bus, so I got down at ang mo kio instead and decided to randomly explore the area which I am so familiar with. The winds were blowing strongly, causing micro tripod movements and blur images, the rain reduced visibility so I couldn't shoot much.. and I was super disappointed that I couldn't take anything good. Then suddenly, I saw lighting in the distance! swopped to my wide angle and made this image. MY FIRST EVER PHOTOGRAPH OF LIGHTNING! In the end, I couldn't be more thankful for the bad weather. And I was really lucky to have a train pulled into the station during the exposure! And so I learnt, there's something good in every storm:)
