Tidbits from Tesla:

• 135 MPG equivalent… twice the energy efficiency of a Prius… 1¢ per mile

• Tesla-designed 3-phase, 4-pole AC induction motor, rated at 248hp, max torque at 0 rpm; redline at 13,500 rpm

• Launch party countdown clock for tonight.... [now a redesigned homepage]

Tesla, the namesake…

Full disclosure: we are investors, and I am easily excitable about cool new tech gadgets. Photo by Tesla Motors.

Tablescrap idea using the new BA tactical sword. From the right angle it looks pretty neat.

Planning Consent required the electrification work in Rainhill to use 'headspans' rather than TTCs or portals.

There are four pairs of masts for this equipment.

This pair, the most westerly of the four, has been up and finished for some time.

Please compare with series 3054 photos to assess recent progress.

All four pairs appear to have used different fixings and layouts.

The Vulcan Foundry stood on the southern edge of Newton-le-Willows. The factory built many steam locos for service in the UK and around the world, and a good few diesels, too, towards the end. It had a 'Model Village' of good quality housing for employees, known still as Vulcan Village. The factory was flattened some years ago, but the village is Listed, well maintained and inhabited. After some delay housing is now being built on the factory site.

Both factory and village sit in the Vee where the WCML heads north east and the line to Earlestown heads north west.

A Northern Electrics Class 319 passes on the first day of the electrified Lime Street to Warrington Bank Quay service, heading southwards (right to left) on the Earlestown line, next and final stop Warrington.

The Vee of the lines is behind the camera.

Vulcan Village can be seen to the right near the start of the film.

Electric trains started passenger-carrying services on several diagrams between Manchester Victoria and Blackpool North on Monday 11th February 2019.

Not all possible services were electrified, nor were the Salford to Euxton Junction speed limits raised, but nevertheless on that day the line jumped from zero electric services to several electric services in a middle sized bang. All such trains were composed of a single four car Class 319 EMU.

This shot shows one service waiting to set off northwards from Manchester Victoria.

As in electric... A pickup conversion being manufactured by VIA Motors (run by Bob Lutz, yes that Bob Lutz), it has a similar drive system to the Chevrolet Volt... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VIA_Motors

This week was supposed to be grand re-launch of the Wild Wednesday cruise night with a new venue... Apparently the organizers cancelled due to some weather concerns... I didn't get the memo, a few people still showed up, still rather disappointing... And the weather wasn't all that bad... Just the continual story of my car show season so far, not much of anything... *sigh*

Decided to push my new budget-priced Finepix J50 to the limit, testing it under various conditions. It is a compact little camera with features like 8.2 megapixels and a 5x optical zoom. I'm not sure about the quality yet, but it may take some getting used to the various settings.

Nice day so I nipped down to take a few photos of the area, no works started for the new footbridge yet although the footpath is marked as closed, still some gaps like between Blackrod and Adlington all the current masts look to have arms."

Big monsoon storm rolled into the city Friday night. We tried to get to a desired location in the East Valley to compose some shots. But the front was moving so fast that it overtook us. When the pouring rain and wind eased up, I managed to get a few of it behind us.

Lens was a Tamron 01BB 24mm f/2.5.

An overhead cloud to cloud strike that lit up the area.

Work in progress. Lots of danglies on the ground waiting to be put aloft.

On the opposite side of the tracks the pallisade fence running from the right separates a public footpath from the railway. That footpath turns away from the tracks at a right angle by the leftmost mast as we look at them, and drops down to St Mary's Road. Many photos in this album have been taken over that fence, including the Kirow cranes dropping the points in during the Summer 2014 blockade.

The points in the foreground split the eastbound third track, with the line nearer to the camera heading north to St Helens Central and Wigan and the line splitting away from the camera heading to Whiston, Sankey Viaduct and Chat Moss.

For the fourth track to be laid the line of the fence to the right will have to be moved to the right, which requires the acquisition of land, for which the political, commercial and legal stuff appears to have happened already. When that boundary is moved trees will be removed nearer Huyton station, the trackbed-to-be will need to be raised then all the metal clobber in view to the north (right) of the tracks, including the masts, will have to be removed, a new line laid and new metalwork be installed. Not trivial.

To revisit the reason why all of this is necessary when the LNWR, LMSR and BR ran four tracks through this spot for 140 years, think speeds and standards. Those organisations ran trains at lower speeds and tolerated tighter clearances for trains and staff. We're aiming higher.

Dixie, a former police Sgt from Huyton, took these shots from the public side of an old stone wall which was the former boundary of the railway which runs alongside the pay and display car park just to the east of the Merseytravel bus station at Huyton, holding his phone at arms length through the modern fencing which now marks the security boundary of the modern railway, roughly at a point which is between the 45 mph speed restriction sign and the brick building to its right in Photo 2036

Twyla, I am very disappointed she has marks on her face, little dots and I don't think they are freckles, I thought they were just hairs and I could wipe them off, I should have paid more attention and grabbed a different one, and I paid full price too, apart from that I do like her, her hair though like the others not perfect but what Twyla doll is? her outfit is very cute too, I noticed her shadow things on her legs are gone and she only has a bit on her arm the dark she has only one dark arm, that's a bit of a shame, her pet thing is cute, she's awesome just can't get past the marks I don't know what to do, her hair is gonna need some care anyway on top of it all, Clawdeen also has a mark what is going on? loving the new sister body though.
