Distraction – Billboard 1 (taken along EDSA from a taxi cab)

Manila, Philippines billboard eyesore. Not exactly tasteful billboards, they mushroom along major thoroughfares of the city. From the plane, you will see one long line of these billboards. In fact, there was a movement on controlling them for destroying the landscape of the city (adland)

nimrodel.net/2006/07/09/billboards-in-edsa/

The scenery in EDSA is now a billboard jungle. What a pathetic eye sore! The National Building Code Development Office (NBCDO) of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has drafted a circular that would prohibit the putting up of advertising signs 100 meters from the center of national highways and transmission lines, and the removal of such structures within the area, in the interest of public safety. The NBCDO said billboards pose a risk because they could distract drivers. It also said haphazardly built billboards could collapse and harm people.

Sydney V6 interurban set is seen here at the platform of Dapto station on February 12, 1993, following the then recent official opening of electrification of the line from Coniston to Dapto on January 24, 1993. This enabled commuters to travel the 95 km from Sydney to Dapto without having to change trains from electric to diesel at Wollongong as was the case prior to electrification. Eventually the New South Wales Government extended electrification from Dapto to Kiama which opened on November 17, 2001, and in doing so saw the Sydney south coast railway electrification travelling some 110 km. from Sydney. V6 is seen in the famous "blue goose" livery which dates back to 1970.

A Northern Electric Class 319 slows for its Prescot stop with a Lime St to Wigan North Western stopper.

To the right is the recently-levelled site of the former BICC works. Vehicles can be seen beyond it passing along the M57.

A Northern Electrics Class 319 sets off for Preston.

Most Preston-Lime Street trains continue to Liverpool South Parkway rather than sit at Lime St occupying space. Although they are in public service I have never seen more than a handful of people using them in either direction south of Lime Street.

Seen powering away from a station stop at Kensington Olympia is preserved Southern Railway rebuilt West Country Pacific number 34046 'Braunton', heading through West Brompton on the West London Line whilst working the 'Canterbury Belle' from Bristol Temple Meads to Canterbury. Braunton had taken over from diesel traction at Willesden Junction.

Although the West London Line did allow the movement of Southern Railway engines on its rails, the line was constantly juggled between various operators, including the Great Western Railway and the London, Midland & Scottish Railway. During the 1950's the line saw a major decline in services and was on the brink of closure altogether until major investments in the late 1980's saw the route electrified and operated by Network SouthEast Class 313's between Clapham Junction and Stratford. Within the space of 10 years the line went from seeing only 1 unadvertised train per day to having a half-hourly service, which has continued to be built on and now sees a London Overground Class 378 every 15 minutes together with Southern Class 377's bound for Milton Keynes.

West Brompton station itself was closed to national rail traffic in 1940, only being served by the District Line on its Kensington Olympia branch. But in 1999 the station was reopened and now features frequent commuter trains.

It should also be noted the large structure of Earl's Court Exhibition Centre immediately north of the station, a structure that could easily be mistaken for a large railway terminus in its own right.

He added: "A new, bespoke portal NW of Newport Street bridge. The second portal awaits assembly nearby. As a bonus, the final empty base in the area has a mast in place. It is just visible between the two bridges in the background."

Coventry part of the National Express group, has seen a complete change since 2022, with a vast majority of the fleet now been electric. Over 120 Electric BYD/ADL City MMC-EVs have arrived into service. Almost making Coventry an electric bus powered city, just some single deck electrics and the City buses will be electric. Birmingham also have a batch of the BYD/ADL electrics for the number 6 Solihull service, the Coventry buses continue in the same fleet number series.

Here number E125 is seen entering Pool Meadow, the city bus station, not too far from the bus depot.
