The thing that always strikes me about the Eiffel Tower is the sheer amount of ironwork, and I tried to capture something of that in this shot.

Eiffel Tower as seen from Les Invalides neighborhood. Directly behind me is a great cafe which I HIGHLY recommend: Le Cenenaire, 27 Boulevard de la Tour Maubourg. Excellent food, friendly staff and moderate prices.

The most distinctive symbol of Paris, the Eiffel Tower (Tour Eiffel) was much maligned by critics when it rose on the city's skyline in 1839 as part of the Universal Exhibition, but its graceful symmetry soon made it the star attraction. At 312m (1,023ft) high, it was the world's tallest building until it was surpassed by New York's Empire State Building in 1931. Despite its delicate appearance, it weighs 10.100 metric tons and engineer Guastave Eiffel's construction was so sound that it never sways more than 9cm in strong winds.

This mono shot was taken directly beneath the structure at groung level, looking straight up.

This painting was TINY! Yet it was the only one in a room full of Cezanne's, Monet's, Rembrandt's and Picasso's that was protected by a glass cabinet.
