This is one of those funny ones! The Finistère is literally covered in gorse and broom! Yet it took me 3 days to find this species!!!!

I spotted the eggs first (pic in comments), and eventually an adult. Did see a few more after this, but not in the numbers I'd have expected!

Saint-Hernot - Finistère

On my way back to the car after my walk yesterday, I noticed this egg under the newly-trimmed dwarf bottlebrush. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that it won't be long until the raccoons find it.

In our field.

The killdeer (Charadrius vociferus) is a large plover found in the Americas. The killdeer's common name comes from its often-heard call. Its upperparts are mostly brown with rufous fringes, the head has patches of white and black, and there are two black breast bands. The belly and the rest of the breast are white. They breed from southeastern Alaska and southern Canada to Mexico.

Its breeding grounds are generally open fields with short vegetation. The nest itself is a scrape lined with vegetation and white material, such as pebbles or seashell fragments. This bird lays a clutch of four to six buff to beige eggs with dark markings. The breeding season (starting with egg-laying) occurs from mid-March to August, with later timing of egg-laying in the northern portion of the range. Both parents incubate the eggs for 22 to 28 days on average. The young stay in the nest until the day after being hatched, when they are led by their parents to a feeding territory (generally with dense vegetation where hiding spots are abundant), where the chicks feed themselves. The young then fledge about 31 days after hatching, and breeding first occurs after one year of age.

Thank you all for your visit comments and faves much appreciated!

Have a good day.

This Aluminum Egg Wedger is perfect for creating tasty creations.

It has three stainless steel wires that cut the hard boiled egg in six, equal wedges. It ensures that the egg white and yolk stay together when cut.

Made from polished, die cast aluminum with a heavy-duty spring.

The earth is like an egg. It has many layers: Crust, Mantle, and Core. And the similar tie with the egg: Shell, Albumen, and Yolk.

Throughout the world a variety of different tales have developed to explain to children how eggs “appear” on the Easter morning. Often the tales involve animals that are personified in one sense or another.

The tradition of Easter bunny or hare was probably brought to America by German immigrants, along with the practice of setting out hats and bonnets in the hope that the Easter bunny would leave eggs for Easter morning.

Just some of the fresh eggs from our beautiful chickens.

Route 114 runs across the VT state line and the Canadian border. It's a freshly paved, lightly twisting delight to drive. At some point, out in the middle of virtual nothing I drove passed this stand which offered the sale of eggs on the honor system. The idea is you snag what you want from the chest and leave the appropriate cost in the mail box.

Behind this was a rather extensive montage of Christian evangelism in the form of text plastered poster boards and some illustrations. Those to follow..

From my hike the other day I came across these.

A few other pictures I took for the Macro Mondays Kitchen theme this week

For Macro mondays, originally this is taken about seven years ago...due to time lack not able to take a fresh picture.
