This company is selling the idea of building solar carports for your driveway, as an alternate to installing solar panels on your roof. Don't know what the cost differential is, but it's an interesting idea.

During our Dyersville research we discovered Chad's Pizza had the audacity of charging $12 for their buffet of "marginal quality" pizza according to some guy I quizzed as he exited the establishment. We ended up over at Uncle John's where the buffet was much better quality for only $8 and the beer variety numbered over 100. We hung around for a couple hours and watched the Tour de France on a big ole plasma telescreen while we chatted about how great it would be to live in Dyersville if you were an alcoholic and or Catholic.

Detail photo of an experiment in the in the Lab for Efficient and Enduring Energy Systems (L3), at the North Campus Research Center at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Seungwon Rha, a PhD student in Chemical Engineering, is studying how electricity flows inside special types of solar cells, called III/V thermophotovoltaic cells, which are made from III/V semiconductors, to understand how these cells control and manage the movement of electric charges, which helps improve how well they turn heat into electricity.

Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering Andrej Lenert directs the Lab for Efficient and Enduring Energy Systems (LE3). LE3 conducts research at the intersection of nanofabrication, energy conversion, and the transport of light and heat. The primary aim is to develop materials and devices that enhance the reliability and accessibility of renewable energy and help decarbonize industry. They use theoretical and computational tools for material design, employ advanced techniques for fabrication and characterization, and assess device properties using custom-built experimental stations.

When the road home is long, and you only have a bike ... what's the best way to conserve energy? Just tag it.

By this time, we were on the highway through Uttar Pradesh (the largest state in India) to reach our destination: Agra.

Uttar Pradesh is largely a farming/agricultural state. It has a newly elected chief minister who is a woman and it's good to know that her background is humble one. She wasn't from the elitist nor the rich, she was from an average or poor family and worked her way up - through not just parliamentary politics but gender too. So the people now has a CM who's ever gone through the same and who'd understand their needs better.

The other thing Annabelle discovered was that she can crawl into and out of the baby pool, which she proceeded to do for about five minutes before we realized she was slowly draining the pool every time she pushed the side down with her belly.

"I try to drive fuel efficiently to reduce my carbon emissions. I keep my tires inflated and combine trips when possible. I drive a manual car, and whenever I'm coming to a stop or driving down a hill, I shift to neutral and coast to save gas!"

For Earth Month 2012, Green Mountain Energy employees are sharing photos of how they live green each and every day. Both at work and at home, we all try to reduce our daily environmental impact in various ways. Here's a glimpse into how our employees are living green - and tips on what you can do to reduce your impact, too!

| Foto © Charles Batenburg

This nun and the teacher are very good in organising events. Yes they are very good in public relations too. Keep it up.

Here is another pic of our display at the Sustainable Communities Conference.

Our display is starting to be a familiar sight at community based events like this. But we are always looking for new opportunities to get our message out about saving money by saving energy.
