The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance's 2023 Efficiency Exchange (EFX) Conference took place at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. On May 2-3, 2023, regional and national attendees from public and private utilities, consulting and research firms, and government and non-profit organizations came together to learn and connect to help the region more effectively achieve its energy efficiency goals.

5 April 2021 - A training workshop in Tanta governorate which gathered 22 engineers from MWRI and MALR from the three governorates from Minya, Sharkia and Kafr El Sheikh on the methods of remote sensing, geographic information systems, data collection, and image classification under the regional project “Implementing the 2030 Agenda for water efficiency/productivity and water sustainability in NENA countries”.

Improving the drying efficiency of the sand dryer means an increase in the output of the dryer, which in turn increases the economic benefits of the user. So, what are the ways to improve the drying efficiency of sand dryers?
First, ensure the moisture content of the sand material. If the moisture in the wet sand is large, it will take longer time to dry it and absorb more heat to ensure the drying effect of the sand, which will prolong the drying time of the sand and reduce the drying efficiency. Therefore, proper dehydration treatment for sand with high humidity will help to improve the drying efficiency of the sand dryer.
Secondly, the temperature of the hot air should be appropriately increased. The drying efficiency of the sand dryer is directly related to the temperature of the hot air in the cylinder. When the amount of hot air in the drying cylinder is more and the temperature of the hot air is higher, the sand is heated more and the drying speed is faster, and the work efficiency will be greatly improved. However, the adjustment of the hot air volume and temperature of the sand dryer should also be carried out within the allowable range, and it should not be adjusted too high, so as not to affect the quality of the sand after drying.
Third, ensure the continuity of the hot air entering the dryer. In order to improve the working efficiency of the sand dryer, it is necessary to ensure the continuity of the hot air entering the dryer, and there should be no intermittent phenomenon. Because the drying of sand is realized by heat exchange between materials and high temperature flue gas, if the continuity of hot air is poor, it will lead to uneven heat absorption during sand drying, which not only reduces drying efficiency, but also affects the quality after drying. In addition, the water vapor in the sand dryer should be discharged in time to avoid secondary pollution of the material.
Finally, do a good job of sealing the sand dryer. The good sealing performance of the sand dryer is an important factor to ensure the full utilization of heat and improve the utilization rate of thermal energy resources. If the sealing work of the sand dryer is not done well, the heat entering the drum will be lost, resulting in insufficient heat in the drum, thereby reducing the working efficiency of the equipment. Therefore, doing a good job of sealing the sand dryer is also a way to improve its drying efficiency.
