5 April 2021 - A training workshop in Tanta governorate which gathered 22 engineers from MWRI and MALR from the three governorates from Minya, Sharkia and Kafr El Sheikh on the methods of remote sensing, geographic information systems, data collection, and image classification under the regional project “Implementing the 2030 Agenda for water efficiency/productivity and water sustainability in NENA countries”.

On the sidelines of the Kigali Cooling Efficiency Program annual meetings, an awards ceremony was held to recognise those champions clean and efficient cooling. Rwanda was recognised for being the first country in the world to develop a National Cooling Strategy and for its efforts to develop minimum energy performance standards for cooling appliances.
The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance's 2023 Efficiency Exchange (EFX) Conference took place at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. On May 2-3, 2023, regional and national attendees from public and private utilities, consulting and research firms, and government and non-profit organizations came together to learn and connect to help the region more effectively achieve its energy efficiency goals.

Theme 2 ENERGY EFFICIENCY BY DESIGN AND RELATED NEW SYSTEMS: What do we know about URN relationships?
The workshop sought to engage participants who work in the greenhouse gas (GHG) and underwater radiated noise (URN) technical, regulatory and policy spaces, including wide participation from industry with practical experience implementing both GHG emissions reductions programs as well as those who are interested in, or involved in, reducing URN.
An engineer, who was engaged on railroad construction in Central
America, explained to one of the natives living alongside the right of
way the advantages that would come from realization of the projected
line. To illustrate his point, he put the question:
"How long does it take you to carry your produce to market by muleback?"
"Three days, _senor_," was the answer.
"Then," said the engineer, "you can understand the benefit the road will
be to you. You will be able to take your produce to market, and to
return home on the same day."
"Very good, _senor_," the native agreed courteously.
"But, _senor_, what shall we do with the other two days?"

Over here in Germany, they do things a little strangely. Instead of telling someone how many miles they can drive on one gallon of gas, fuel efficiency here is expressed by how many liters of fuel are needed to travel 100 kilometers. I don't get it either. Anyway, this is my fuel efficiency of my Polo 1.4L TDI since I bought it in Sept. 2006. Most of the spikes correspond to a long trip over the Autobahn at 95 mph. But some of them don't. I haven't yet pinned down the reason for these spikes. They seem to come out of the blue.
BTW, 4.8 L/100 km is about 49 mpg to make it easier for us Amer'cans.
Somehow, I can’t see the EPA’s Energy Star program handing out C, D or F grades to appliances. This is at Miele’s exhibit.
