Energy Trust (in Oregon) has a promotion where they'll send you a stack of free LED lightbuibs if you tell them your address. So we gave them our address and they sent us 12 high-efficiency 60w bulbs.
These puppies are /really/ bright, which is a bit of a problem because most of the light fixtures we've got in the house are happier with 30ilu (30 watts worth of incandescent lamp) lights, and these bulbs are ~80ilu, which is shockingly bright for a household where we've gotten used to wading through the murk of lower-powered lights.
Ah well, I'm sure we'll find some use for them. Maybe when I get the garashed cleaned out and wired I'll set up a bank of them overlooking my brazing table so I can have immediate feedback about botched frame/fork/stem/rack brazes)
(I've got to buy a lottery ticket, since I want to build up 5-6 sacrificial frames before trying to sell bespoke fop chariots to unsuspecting friends in the down time between rack orders :-)
