On Tuesday, December 16, at Perspectives Charter Schools’ Rodney D. Joslin Campus, at 1930 S. Archer, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Benjamin led a discussion that introduced the students to his experiences serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer. In a general assembly he talked about global health and environmental issues, cross-cultural understanding and the importance of community service. Peace Corps Volunteers work at the grassroots level to develop sustainable solutions that address challenges in education, health, economic development, agriculture, environment and youth development.
At Perspectives, real-world, experiential learning opportunities are integrated into classroom curriculum including welcoming visitors with a broad range of skills and professional interests to open the minds of students to the myriad professional possibilities available to them. Through partnerships with museums, businesses and other organizations as host sites for Field Studies, Perspectives develops specific curriculum that prepares students for their learning experiences, building on the 26 principles of the A Disciplined Life eduction model. Combined, these opportunities give students a "big picture" of the world around them and a sense of connectedness to the broader community.

كرم سمو الشيخ عبدالله بن زايد آل نهيان وزير الخارجية والتعاون الدولي رئيس مجلس التعليم والموارد البشرية 20 طالبا وطالبة من 16 مدرسة حكومية لتفوقهم في امتحانات بيسا الدولية وتحقيقهم نتائج متميزة وحصلوهم على معدلات مرتفعة في الامتحان.
حضر حفل التكريم الذي أقيم في كلية دبي للطلاب بالمدينة الأكاديمية في دبي معالي حسين بن إبراهيم الحمادي وزير التربية والتعليم ومعالي حصة بنت عيسى بو حميد وزيرة تنمية المجتمع ومعالي ناصر بن ثاني الهاملي، وزير الموارد البشرية والتوطين ومعالي جميلة بنت سالم مصبح المهيري وزيرة الدولة لشؤون التعليم العام ومعالي سارة بنت يوسف الأميري، وزيرة دولة مسؤولة عن ملف العلوم المتقدمة.
وأكد سموه بهذه المناسبة أن دولة الإمارات تمضي في طريقها بخطى ثابتة لتمكين شبابها وتأهليهم بالشكل الأمثل للمنافسة العالمية فهم عماد التقدم والتنمية مثمنا جهود شباب الوطن الذي يسعون بشكل متواصل نحو تحقيق التفوق الأكاديمي في مختلف الفعاليات العلمية الوطنية والإقليمية والعالمية.
وأشار سموه إلى أن هذه النتائج الاستثنائية التي نجح أبناء الوطن في تحقيقها تأتي ترجمة للجهود الكبيرة التي تبذلها مختلف الجهات المعنية في سبيل تمكين أبناء الدولة وإثراء مسيرتهم الأكاديمية والعلمية من خلال توفير مناهج دراسية وفق أعلى المعايير.
وتوجه سموه بالتهنئة إلى الطلبة المتفوقين مشيرا إلى أن المنظومة التعليمية في الدولة عملت على توفير الظروف المثالية للطلبة من أجل تحسين أدائهم في مختلف الاختبارات الدولية بما يؤدي إلى تحقيق أهداف الأجندة الوطنية لرؤية الإمارات 2021 الرامية لبناء نظام تعليمي متكامل عالمي المستوى يضع الإمارات بين مصاف الدول المتقدمة في هذا المجال.
ودعا سموه الطلبة المتفوقين إلى مواصلة مسيرة التميز الدراسي والعلمي خلال السنوات المقبلة فما تم تحقيقه ما هو إلا بداية لطريقة من التميز.
من جانبها .. أكدت معالي جميلة بنت سالم مصبح المهيري وزيرة دولة لشؤون التعليم العام أن توجيهات سمو الشيخ عبدالله بن زايد آل نهيان ومتابعته الحثيثة من خلال مجلس التعليم والموارد البشرية شكلت دافعا قويا للنهوض بالمنظومة التعليمية في مختلف جوانبها مشيرة إلى أن اختبار "بيسا" للمدارس يشكل حجر الزاوية الذي نستند إليه لمعرفة مستوى طلبتنا الدراسي وبالتالي منحنا صورة أكثر وضوحا وواقعية عن نظامنا التعليمي والذي يسهم اختبار "بيسا" الرئيسي في تحديد جودته ومواطن قوته وضعفه ومن هنا جاء الاهتمام بهذا النوع من الاختبارات لما لها من أهمية في تصحيح مسار القرار التربوي لمصلحة النظام التعليمي.
وأضافت أن ثمة استعدادات متواصلة ودعم كبير نلقاه من قبل سموه لتحقيق أفضل النتائج في هذه الاختبارات وصولا إلى تحقيق مؤشرات الأجندة الوطنية ورؤية الدولة المستقبلية 2021 مبينة أن طلبة المدارس الحكومية والخاصة بالدولة سيشاركون مجددا في اختبار "بيسا" للمدارس في العام المقبل 2019 ومتفائلون بتحقيق مزيد من النجاحات في هذا الإطار.
وقالت معاليها إن أكثر من 30 ألف طالب وطالبة من طلبة الصف العاشر في الدولة قد شاركوا في اختبار "بيسا" للمدارس حيث تعد أكبر مشاركة لطلبة الدولة في هذا الاختبار والتي نجح من خلالها 20 طالبا وطالبة في التفوق والنجاح وتحقيق معدلات استثنائية في هذا الاختبار الدولي.
وأوضحت أن نتائج اختبار "بيسا" للمدارس كانت مميزة وفاقت المعدل إذ استطاع نحو 9 آلاف طالب وطالبة من المشاركين في هذا الاختبار حصد مستويات عالية مؤكدة أنه رغم كون معدل دولة الامارات الكلي في اختبار "بيسا" الرئيسي لايزال أقل من المعدل الدولي إلا أن هناك عدد كبير من مدارس الدولة التي نجحت في إيصال طلبتها إلى أعلى النتائج في هذا الاختبار الدولي ووفقا لهذه النتائج الايجابية فإن الآمال والطموحات كبيرة بتحقيق المزيد من المشاركات والنتائج المميزة من خلال التخطيط المدروس وتحليل البيانات المتاحة.
