During the tour of Fort Belvoir, educators' were able to talk with local Soldiers during a luncheon at Fort Belvoir Officers Club on April 20, 2011. The U.S. Army Harrisburg Recruiting Battalion sponsored 24 Pennsylvania educators' and community leaders' during April 18-21, 2011 for the 2011 U.S. Army Educators' and Community Leaders' Tour to the Military District of Washington including visits to the Pentagon, Fort Myer and Fort Belvoir. The National Association of Cuban American Educators (NACAE) awarded "Educator of the Year 2012" Dr. Modesto A. Maidique, President Emeritus of Florida International University (FIU), Alva H. Chapman Jr. Eminent Scholar Chair in Leadership, Executive Director of the Center for Leadership and Professor of Management, Faculty of Business Administration, all at FIU. Dr. Maidique was FIU President for 23 years, the first Cuban-American university president in the U.S.

 

The event also gave the scholarship NACAE "Gastón Fernández de la Torriente" the student Carolina Sanchez

Description: Educator and founder of the Palmer Memorial Institute in Sedalia, North Carolina, Charlotte Eugenia Hawkins Brown was active in the National Council of Negro Women, the N.C. Teachers Association, etc., and was the first black woman to serve on the national board of the YWCA. She lectured and wrote about black women, education, and race relations.

Dr. Dane Rowlands, Director of the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University (second from left) receives the award for Best Practices in Educator Support (Support to Student Reservists) during the Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) provincial awards ceremony for Ontario at Queen’s Park on March 29, 2017. The award was presented by Mr. Paul Hindo, CFLC Ontario Chair, the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, and Brigadier-General Stephen Cadden, Commander 4th Canadian Division and Joint Task Force Central.

 

CFLC presented awards to 12 Ontario-based organizations during the ceremony. Since 1994, CFLC has recognized civilian employers in the private and public sectors, as well as educational institutions, which have demonstrated exceptional support for Reservist employees and students.

M. Paul Hindo, président provincial (Ontario) du CLFC, l’honorable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, la lieutenante-gouverneure de l’Ontario, et le brigadier-général Stephen Cadden, commandant de la 4e Division du Canada et de la Force opérationnelle interarmées (Centre), ont décerné le prix.

 

Le CLFC a décerné des prix à 12 organisations ontariennes lors de la cérémonie. Depuis 1994, le CLFC souligne l’appui des employeurs dans les secteurs privés et publics, ainsi que des éducateurs, qui ont démontré leur soutien exceptionnel aux employés- et aux étudiants-réservistes.

Every year, the College of Education hosts a back-to-school thank-you reception for Pullman-area educators, in particular the Pullman School District, with whom the college has had a special relationship for a number of years. This year's event took place at South Fork on August 22.

Local teachers attended the expo to learn about classroom-tested science lesson plans created for VA SEA by science graduate students.

 

The VA SEA Project is currently supported by the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Virginia Sea Grant, and the VIMS Marine Advisory Program.
