Finished. A fun and not too difficult puzzle. Because of limited puzzle time during holiday it took some time to complete.
Two excellent and very large puzzles. On the left, Ravensburger's 9000-piece of Bruegel's 'The Tower of Babel,' and on right, an 8,000-piece of Pradilla's 'The Surrender of Granada.' The Babel was completed in 2002; it has been out of print for many years but sometimes can be found on ebay. Granada finished in 2007 - this image is now available in both 8000 and 6000 piece versions.
Progress 2--I have most of the wavy green pieces assembled. Next step is to finish assembling the pieces of color, and also to assemble the pieces with writing on them. Then I'll continue on to the river pieces and the remaining tan (map) pieces. It's an enjoyable puzzle, lots of detail.

Finally got some sunshine this afternoon to allow me to get some photos, after basically clouds and rain for the last 2 days.
I completed this puzzle Tuesday afternoon. The bottom section was tough but I worked on it in sunlight some which helped distinguish the colors a lot.
Beziers is a town in Languedoc in southern France. Béziers hosts the famous Feria de Béziers, centred on bullfighting, every August. A million visitors are attracted to the five-day event. Béziers is a member of the Most Ancient European Towns Network.
The town is located on a small bluff above the river Orb, about 10 km (6.2 mi) from the Mediterranean coast, and 75 km southwest of Montpellier. At Béziers, the Canal du Midi spans the river Orb as an aqueduct called the Pont-canal de l'Orb, claimed to be the first of its kind.
Saint-Nazaire Cathedral : Situated in the high part of town, it occupies a picturesque site, visible from afar when approaching Béziers on the road from Narbonne. A remarkable example of middle Gothic architecture from the 14th century, the vaulted nave, 14 m (45.93 ft) wide, reaches a height of 32 m (104.99 ft). The total length is 50 m (164.04 ft). The western rose window has a diameter of 10 m (32.81 ft).
I decided to take a break from the Dolomites puzzle. For the record, this puzzle came in 2 bags of 4000 pieces each (sometimes these 8K Educa puzzles will come in 4 bags of 2000 pieces each), and I'm doing this as a mixed bag puzzle.

A gorgeous jigsaw of a painting by Frederick William Burton (1816-1900), illustrating an episode from the Danish ballad Helellil and Hildebrand. Superb quality pieces and excellent colour reproduction meant that this was a joy to do. And complete, too!

I'm closing in on the buildings, then I'll just have the street to go! Really enjoying this puzzle. It's pretty, has engaging colors, and I can always, easily, find something to work on. It's just fun!
Preparing young Queenslanders for life in the 1990s, we saw personal computers make their way into schools during the 80s with a strong focus on health, regional education and the arts by Queensland Education.

For my next puzzle project I thought, what the hell (haha), let's start a 9000 piece puzzle with mixed bags! This could become a logistical nightmare because my table is not big enough, but I have a few spare boards to store sections of the puzzle on.
This will be my first mixed bags project of this size, but I think it is possible to sort this puzzle fairly well (the right panel for example) and all the detail will help too. Plus it is not too dark, which is nice in winter.

A gorgeous Educa puzzle featuring one of Antoni Gaudi's famous buildings in Barcelona; in super condition and complete. Here's what it says on the box:
'Casa Batllo (1906) is one of the most representative works of the Modernist architect Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926). The house, which stands in Paseo de Gracia, a broad avenue running through the centre of Barcelona, shows the Modernist decorative approach at its most subtle.'
Once we'd got a handle on the balconies this one proved pretty straightforward. The mosaic between the balconies was simpler than we thought it would be, thank goodness!

I did the 4K version of this map puzzle about 6 years ago. This one is similar to the 4K, but the image is a bit darker, and they made a few other cosmetic changes.
An interesting aspect of this puzzle is the inclusion of other, irregular shaped pieces (similar to other brands). Normally I only get the wavy pieces and the standard khkh configuration. I've known that these cuts exist, yet this is the first time for me. (I'm only referring to the 4K, the 5K, and the 8K Educas--other Educas usually have some irregular pieces). The puzzle came in 2 bags but I've decided to mix them.
This is a fairly recent puzzle from Educa's 2013 range. I would prefer to do my Educa's Echo and Narcissus but chose this one because I haven't seen it in our flickr group. I prefer the art of Waterhouse rather than that of Leighton.
I have started on a few obvious areas, the rug on which they are sitting and a patch of light green grass, even managed a few edge pieces as required. I don't feel settled-in with this puzzle yet, hope this changes soon.

After dong a half dozen smaller bite-sized puzzles, I am now going to start Rue Paris. My wife got it for me for Christmas! Isn't she sweet! :)
She also included the note; "Which piece will be Libby's?" Libby is our dog, who seems to think Puzzles pieces are better than dog biscuits! I'm hoping NONE of the pieces are Libby's! :)
The encounter between the God of Love and the innocence of a young maiden.
So pleased to finally add this one to my collection. I purchased it recently but it took some years to find. When I chose to do it I must have only had eyes for the God and the Maiden and not noticed the very large dark forest / tree area.To my surprise it was more difficult than I thought it would be. The dark area took forever to complete. I found it to be more difficult than my recent 5000 'Country Fair' and took a little longer, 14 days.
Over all a very enjoyable puzzle to do.
This puzzle is based on a painting by Sir Frank Dicksee. I really enjoyed this puzzle because of the variety of colors that were employed. It also seems to be the perfect type of puzzle for me because it is part fine art and part scenery puzzle; a mixture of the my two favorite types of puzzles I completed this puzzle in 10 days.

Newest addition to my collection. Happy to have found a sealed copy for a reasonable price.
Educa / 18.000 pieces / 12048 / 2003
This is probably the best big art puzzle ever released, and I'm very lucky to have found a new and sealed copy for a reasonable price.
Not sure when I'll have enough space and time to do this one, but I will definitely be mixing the bags!

I originally started this puzzle in May of this year but due to unforeseen things in my life I didn't get very far and eventually put it on hold until things settled down. I decided now was the right time to get back to it and feel very confident that this time I will see it to completion.
When I stopped earlier this year all I had done was the sky and the green leaves on the left hand side. I restarted the puzzle on Sunday evening and have made solid progress through 2 days.

Made some great progress Tuesday nite and Wednesday morning. The city was relatively easy. I was surprised that I was able to get the bottom right done but the pieces had blue from the water mixed with the green so it was easier to find them. Now the hard parts, the top left probably won't be too bad but the bottom left will take some effort.
