And the battle has been won by ...me! This was quite a hard puzzle, but the end result is very rewarding. Although I personally prefer paintings like the Botticelli ones that have less tiny figures, it is a stunning puzzle.
The fit of the puzzle is amazing, when a piece really fell into its place, there was no doubt about it, except for the repeating pattern in the sky, where I had to change the pieces a few times.
Educa 12736
1000 pieces, used and complete
48 x 68 cm
Beers of the World feature in this Educa puzzle from no earlier than 2016. In immaculate condition, and probably only assembled once, it was complete. One of Mike's choices, although we did it together.
2020 piece count: 59251
Puzzle 62
Educa puzzle, finished in early 2008. This is one of two Velazquez paintings made into a 10,000 piece puzzle by the Spanish puzzle manufacturer (the other, 'The Weavers,' can also be found in this set).
Another giant puzzle from Educa. Completed in 2009, this puzzle looks great in the photo but close up the printing quality is kind of fuzzy. Not sure if it's Educa's fault or the original fresco is the same way - I've never been to the Vatican to see the original ... Italian Renaissance painter Rafael Sanzio (1483-1520).

This newer version is much nicer than Educa's older version I think.I really like this type of art for puzzles. This one has a good amount of challenge to it; all those blue dresses and that wall at the top!
Educa Sallent (Spain, 1996) No. 7.815
4.000 pcs (80x50). 136 x 96 cm.
Factory sealed from rarepuzzles. Thanks, Jorge!
Excellent Educa quality except for the unusual precarious cut mentioned earlier.
This is my third Poussin puzzle and by far the best.
Nicolas Poussin (June 1594 – 19 November 1665) was the leading painter of the classical French Baroque style, although he spent most of his working life in Rome. Most of his works were on religious and mythological subjects painted for a small group of Italian and French collectors. He returned to Paris for a brief period to serve as First Painter to the King under Louis XIII and Cardinal Richelieu, but soon returned to Rome and resumed his more traditional themes. In his later years he gave growing prominence to the landscapes in his pictures. His work is characterized by clarity, logic, and order, and favors line over color. Until the 20th century he remained a major inspiration for such classically-oriented artists as Jacques-Louis David, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and Paul Cézanne.
Parnassus or Apollo and the Muses is a 1631-1633 painting inspired by Raphael's Parnassus in the Stanza della Segnatura and now in the Prado Museum in Madrid. It was first mentioned in Spain in a 1746 inventory of the La Granja de San Ildefonso palace.
Educa miniature puzzle from 1997.
1.000 pcs, 46 x 30 cm.
A very small detail (lower right corner actually) of the painting by Reni, 1631 (Louvre).
This 4,000-piece Educa puzzle was put together by me in a 5-day marathon during the 2007 holidays. Botticelli's famous work makes for a relatively easy puzzle - lots of color variation.
Here's my next project. I've always wanted to do Life, but the 24000 piece is just way too big for my situation. But when decided I needed it, the 3000 piece was no longer available. Just recently, I saw it became available again and mentioned it to my wife. And she got it for me for Father's day this year. How sweet is that? :)
"Wedding of Psyche and Cupido" wall fresco by Giulio Romano.
Sealed copy found on eBay earlier this year.
Cupid and Psyche is a story originally from Metamorphoses written in the 2nd century AD by Lucius Apuleius Madaurensis
(or Platonicus). The tale concerns the overcoming of obstacles to the love between Psyche and Cupid and their ultimate union in a sacred marriage. Although the only extended narrative from antiquity is that of Apuleius from 2nd century AD, Eros and Psyche appear in Greek art as early as the 4th century BC. The story's Neoplatonic elements and allusions to mystery religions accommodate multiple interpretations.
Bosch's classic triptych. Lots of great details in here. The puzzle was produced in the mid 1990s. I was lucky enough to find an unopened copy on eBay and assembled it in 2005. On the table at top, I am at work on a 3,000 piece of Picasso's 'Guernica' (the fun never stops!).
Used, 5 pieces missing. Very easy when I started using the pattern. Nevertheless, the sky was a real challenge due to stained and decoloured pieces. There are some of them that aren't in their place, but I quit trying to amend it. All in all, it was great fun.

The 5 dragons puzzle was going a little slow, so I thought I'd work another puzzle concurrently. Probably not a good idea :-)
I feel as though I'm doing this puzzle blind-there's no poster and my box cover is faded and discolored. I'm not good enough to mix this puzzle--strictly 1 bag at a time. Should have the first section done by week's end.
Wow, this one really is going quickly, especially compared to to my recent Neuschwanstein. But it is very fun! I'm moving at a masterful clip on this puzzle! Of course, the rest of you would have had it completed by the second day. But luckily, I'm just out to have fun, so I'm happy!
Yet another Bruegel painting: seen here a couple of hours after it was glued together. Note the stretched sheet of 2mm plastic underneath, preventing the puzzle from being glued to the surface underneath. I have used for many years Great American Puzzle Factory brand glue, with great results, but it appears as though this company is no longer in business, or at least no longer making puzzle glue.
This Educa puzzle, #10099, dates from 1998. Quite a difficult puzzle - and pretty hard to find.
{Actual # of pieces: 4,000 (50X80)}
My first 6000 piece puzzle. It didnt quite fit my table. As I was successful at completing it I have since invested in a larger top for my table.
I really enjoyed this puzzle. The colours and detail are absolutely beautiful.
Difficult to photograph this size puzzle.
This is a puzzle I completed earlier this year. I had to order a replacement piece from Educa as one of the pieces was damaged and am just now getting around to posting a photo. The puzzle was painted by James Lee and reminds me a lot of Thomas Kinkaid paintings. I really like the multitude of colors in the puzzle and definitely enjoyed working on it. I completed the puzzle in 2 weeks.
I have finally finished this puzzle. Total time--198 hours over 3 very long months LOL. I'm also happy that I have no missing pieces. I haven't decided what to do with it yet but I am not putting it back in the box :-)
I did this puzzle back in Sept 2019, but was missing a piece. Anyway, I just found the missing piece! I do my puzzles on 40 x 30 inch foam boards, and when I finish them I stack them up, and when I get tired of looking at stacks of foam boards, I either glue the puzzles or put them back in the box.
As I was unstacking foam boards, I found a puzzle piece stuck to the backside of one the foam boards. I instantly recognized it as the Wieskirche missing piece.
Anyway, it was quite a thrill to find this piece 20 months after assembling the puzzle. It's one of my favorite puzzles. Now I can glue and mount this puzzle :-D
This is of course Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling fresco. This 8000-piece puzzle by Educa was manufactured in the mid-1990s. It comes up for bid on eBay every now and then. I bought it around 2000 and put it together in the winter of 2002. It measures about 9 by 3 feet.
I preferred the image of this puzzle over that of the 5000 piece Ravensburger, but I may end up getting that one also :-)
I finished the last section of NYC Skyline. Took some photos but they came out very blurry. I will try to upload new photos later.
Here's my pile of 8000 pieces heh. I'm already at a disadvantage as I have no mascot :(
