Sven Richard Bergh (Stockholm, December 28, 1858 – Stockholm, January 29, 1919) was a well-known Swedish painter. His paintings often depicted Swedish landscapes and portraits. In 1915, Bergh became the director of the Swedish National Museum. Bergh's portraits of his friends have become his most enduring paintings. In the 1890s, Bergh established an art school at his atelier in Stockholm.

Editors are a British indie rock band based in Birmingham, who formed in 2002. Previously known as Pilot, The Pride and Snowfield, the band consists of Tom Smith (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano), Chris Urbanowicz (lead guitar, synthesizer), Russell Leetch (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Ed Lay (drums, percussion).
Editors have so far released two platinum studio albums, selling over two million copies between them worldwide. Their debut album The Back Room was released in 2005. It contained hits such as "Munich" and "Blood" and the following year received a Mercury Prize nomination. Their follow-up album An End Has A Start went to number 1 in the UK Album Chart in June 2007 and earned the band a Brit Awards nomination for best British Band. It also spawned another Top 10 hit single with the release of "Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors".
After their continued success in the charts, sold out tours and numerous headlining festival slots, Editors were lauded as the second biggest British band of the decade after Arctic Monkeys by The Mail on Sunday newspaper. Their brand of dark indie rock is habitually compared to the sound of bands such as Echo & the Bunnymen, Joy Division, Interpol and U2. The band's third album, In This Light and on This Evening, was released in October 2009

Soldiers, policemen and firemen risk their lives every day serving their country or community. Each day people stumble upon accidents or jump into frozen rivers to save survivors of plane crashes. We recognize these heroes for their acts of courage; medals, decorations and other rewards are bestowed upon them by an appreciative public official or superior officer.
How do you recognize and encourage a young child fighting a battle against a life-threatening disease? A battle that is no less dangerous and harrowing? A battle where the outcome is as uncertain as the dangers faced by more well-known heroes?
You present that child with a Bead of Courage.
Beads of Courage is the organization that provides the Beads of Courage Program and other innovative, arts-in-medicine supportive care programs for children coping with serious illness, their families and the health care providers who care for them. NASA and Beads of Courage sponsored the idea of sponsoring a contest for the best designs of a new bead of courage. These special beads of courage would highlight the role of the space program as space beads of courage.
The contest to design the space beads of courage ran from mid-March to mid-April and concluded with the selection of 17 bead designs. Realizing that only a handful of shuttle launches remained before the end of the shuttle program, Newton and Beads of Courage submitted a request to fly the beads to NASA. The Space Shuttle Program Office at Johnson Space Center in Houston approved the request to fly the beads as part of NASA's Official Flight Kit.
The space beads, designed by talented bead artists, will fly aboard space shuttle Atlantis with Commander Ken Ham, Pilot Tony Antonelli, and Mission Specialists Garrett Reisman, Michael Good, Steve Bowen, and Piers Sellers. The shuttle and its crew are scheduled to lift off on Friday, May 14 from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. After Atlantis returns from its mission, NASA will present the string of beads to Beads of Courage Inc. as a symbol of courage to sick children everywhere.

The 2010 Perseid meteor shower is drawing to a close. These images capture some close-up views of “fireball” meteors as they burned up in the Earth’s atmosphere on the peak nights of the shower (Aug. 11-13, 2010), as seen from Huntsville, Ala. and Chickamauga, Ga. A meteor is classified as a fireball if it burns at least as bright as the planet Venus in our night sky. The 2010 Perseids produced some fireballs that were six times brighter than Venus!
The Perseids have been observed for at least 2,000 years and are associated with the comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle, which orbits the sun once every 133 years or so. Each year in August, the Earth passes through a cloud of the comet's debris. These bits of ice and dust burn up in the Earth's atmosphere to create one of the best meteor showers of the year. The shower is called the “Perseids” because the meteors appear to come from the direction of the constellation Perseus.

Ive added a colourscheme editor function to the Flickr Shades Greasemonkey script, that lets you edit the colour scheme on the flickr website, including changing the text colour, background colour and link colours. You can access the new colour scheme editor function via the Firefox Tools Menu, then select Greasemonkey, then Select "UserScript Commands" then select "Flickr Shades Colour Scheme Editor" Reinstall the script to get the new function.
*Update 24-Sep-2009* Tweaked various things (fixed for galleries + new flickr logo) Also added an onscreen link to open the colour scheme editor. Clicking the "?" link next to the "Flickr Tools" link in the top nav menu will now also open the colour scheme editor.
