Working as a paramedic requires a streamlined EDC that covers the essentials and skips the superfluous. Here's what I carry:
+ Extra pair of gloves
+ Radio holster + Motorola XTS2500 radio (when at work)
+ Pager
+ Namebadge with assorted keys, reference cards, and so on. On a clip lanyard.
+ 3M Littman Master Classic II Stethoscope—a very solid, high-fidelity tool.
+ Timex analog watch + J.Crew watch band. I won the watch a few years ago from valetmag.com. The watch/band assembly is waterproof and washable.
+ Pilot G2 pens work well but are cheap; I can lend them without hesitation.
+ Sharpie is a less-used but important tool.
+ Rite in the Rain notepad is new; I like the idea, but thus far, I'm not sure if its worth the cost.
+ Smith & Wesson ExtremeOps First Responder knife was really cheap but has performed well. The pocket clip broke but in my pocket it is still easy to deploy, and the seatbelt cutter and glass punch are useful.
+ Surefire L4 Lumamax light is small but packs a lot of light. I supplement with a brighter light and/or headlamp in some night time situations.
+ Maratac trauma shears from CountyComm live up to their marketing. These hold their edge and shape better than any other pair I've owned.
+ Fossil wallet fits in my front pocket and holds a few cards. Wanting to upgrade this but don't know what I want.
I'm an armed guard and burglar alarm responder in a major city. Decided to take a photo of all the crap I have to lug around every day! Should have included my phone, but my camera battery was dead, so I took this photo with my phone instead. and No, I don't carry the cat around too, she just loves attention
PS: this doesn't even include the stuff in my lunch-cooler! lol

An EDC/OCD update. Carrying some new bits of kit, put away some old bits. Happened to have some leisure items in today as well. Over all it seems lighter and more organized than last time. I have no clue how.
Quick Pick EDC (stuff I pick while going out to work/shop/College/etc. - the wallet is always in my jacket pocket and Casio AQ-S800W on my wrist):
- Samsung Galaxy S II (i9100)
- HTC Desire Z
- Ultrafire H6 XM-L WarmLightMod
- Spyderco Endura 4 DIY Scandi Grind & Stone Wash
A quick EDC loadout of the essentials that keep me from saying "I wish I had my … on me". Just enough to be prepared by not held back.
I constantly debate the usefulness of all these items, however most of these have been evaluated and made the cut. Sometimes because it's proven itself over time, sometimes because I simply wouldn't want to be without it and occasionally for sentimental reasons!
