Durward Street used to be Buck's Row & is where Mary Ann Nichols became a victim of Jack The Ripper on August 31 1888.
The building behind the tube station entrance was the old board school that stood over the murder spot at the time, & the spot where Nichols was found is where the bike is.

I got a lens off eBay that came with a job lot of other camera stuff, included was a Western style Dulux bulk loader that had some film in it, according to the label its Barfen colour slide 100 asa film with an expiry date of October 1977.
So I thought I would give it a go, I loaded up about 10 frames into a cassette and shot it in my Pentax Espio mini.
I was developing some Kodak vision 3 film with my Lab box in homemade ecn2 chemistry that is normally a 1 shot process but I saved the solutions and run this E6 film through it at the same times and temperatures I used for the kodak film.
I wasn't expecting much and I wasn't disappointed.
I scanned the pictures on my Epson V600 scanner and dragged what image I could out in Photoshop.
Not bad considering its 45 years old cross processed in completely the wrong chemicals and a total stab in the dark.
The joy of film photography.

The dark bluish building in front is the old facade of the Whitechapel Wash Houses built in the 1840's.
In the early hours of July 17 1889, Alice McKenzie was found murdered near the Wash House building. On the pavement along the left.
She had some abdominal mutilations, but were not as savage as the previous Ripper victims, so she generally is not considered to have been a victim of Jack The Ripper, but I think she may have been.

This is the site of the old Shoreditch mortuary where the body of Mary Jane Kelly was taken to after she was found horrifically murdered in her room at 13 Miller's Court on November 9 1888.
This plant on the right & the small shed further along stand where it once stood.
The mortuary was behind St. Leonard's Church.
