My Minolta X-9 with a Tokina 500mm F8 RMC Schmidt-Cassegrain lens shooting Wallgreens rebadged Fuji 200 ISO film. The 1 gallon vinegar jug to keep it steady and a shutter release cable. You would not belive how much vibration affects a 500mm lens. Now the film goes off to The Darkroom for developing!

I stayed up until 2:40 am, hoping to see the blood moon, but the clouds thickened and blocked the view completely by 2:15 am. These shots are of the partial eclipse portion of the total lunar eclipse of March 13th & 14th, 2025. The clouds, although annoying, actually made for an interesting effect.

Here is a first quick and dirty run through of some of my photos from today. Very little processing (some have been cropped, especially to show off prominences). More will come but lots of work to do...probably will see a steady drip of these for a few days.
A giant pinhole-effect is achieved with oak leaf canopy high above that focuses the solar eclipse onto the pavement.

The SF Bay Area was only slated to get about 1/3rd of a partial eclipse on April 8th, 2024.
Went out to the front yard to try my hand at capturing it.

The supermoon Lunar eclipse on the 27th/28th September was spectacular, and I am so proud to have constructed my shots and sum up the process for everyone who missed it.

Well, the big event yesterday, April 8th, was the solar eclipse.
The totality path was south and west of where I live. It was like the sky was overcast, still plenty of sunlight. I watched the event on television as the network had reporters located in different cities in the path.
