On August 21, 2017 the Night Sky Festival went out with a flare as a partial solar eclipse occurred over Shenandoah National Park. Visitors young and old gathered at Byrd Visitor Center to experience the wonder of this natural phenomenon together.
Not the prettiest lunar eclipse image, but possibly the luckiest. I could not see this weekend's total lunar eclipse thru heavy cloud coverage, but my camera did! This image was acquired, just a few minutes before the end of totality, by pointing my camera towards where Luna "should be". Much to my surprise, I captured the eclipsed Moon!
