On August 21, 2017 the Night Sky Festival went out with a flare as a partial solar eclipse occurred over Shenandoah National Park. Visitors young and old gathered at Byrd Visitor Center to experience the wonder of this natural phenomenon together.
My last eclipse photo - I promise.
At totality it was completely black; the camera provides a false overly bright sky. In fact, you could see planets.
At horizon left you would be able to see the Pacific Ocean, Haystack Rock and Cape Kiwanda if they were not obscured by clouds.
(I probably should have set the camera in Manual and maintained the original settings through the sequence, but I just left it in Auto).
Lunar eclipse on 3rd March 2007. Shows what can be done with just an SLR and a 70-210 zoom. Sequence as the eclipse developed with the moon becoming red.

Total lunar eclipse occurred from 01:00 Australian EDT on December 11, 2011. The next one won't occur until 2014. Photographed from my front yard.
Clouds moved in soon after Maximum Eclipse in my neighborhood.
(I had eclipse spectacles to see the moon's shadow on the sun, but don't have suitable equipment to photograph the eclipse.)

An Arriva Wright Eclipse Gemini decker passes Derby Midland Station en route to Alvaston. At the tiome of this shot this body was a relative rarity in Arriva fleets outside London but as the Capitals examples now get cascaded into provincial fleets and new orders for the facelifted version of this body enter service, the type is starting to become more widespread.

The recent lunar eclipse visible from Westport, South Island, New Zealand.
This is not great quality unfortunately, as to get it this big I had to optically zoom to 420mm (12x) and then put the camera on 4x digital zoom.
You get the idea anyway :)
The eclipse began in NZ just after 8 pm and lasted about 2.5 hours. This was taken near the end of the eclipse where the moon is just starting to peak back out of the shadow.

eclipse moon song is a gorgeous female pure adult Alaskan Tundra Wolf (canis lupus tundrarum) she is a black phase meaning she was born solid black, and has phased out to the salt n pepper tones you see in her adult coat. Black phase wolves no matter the subspecies continue to phase out for all their lives. Eclipse resides at a licensed Canadian Wolf Outreach Center and Eco Lodge in Saskatchewan. For more info on her, and the other captive wild ambassadors that reside here, please visit our main website.
The maximum coverage of the partial eclipse seen from San Francisco around 6:34 p.m. Almost 85% of the sun obscured by the moon.
The Sun was partly eclipsed by the Moon at sunrise, but cloud was in the way until short before the end of eclipse, around 09:30 UT. This unprocessed image was taken with 800 mm focal length, f/12.6, from Blackford Hill, Edinburgh. Due to cloud no filter could/needed to be used. The leftmost part of the Sun is obscured by the Moon.
