Embark – Unleashed Challenges 2024 – Dogscapes.
Echo
For my challenge: Dogscapes, I thought the (dog-friendly) waterfalls around The Blue Mountains would be the perfect backdrop for Echo!! And boy was I right!!
This photoshoot is a dream come true; I just love Huskies even as a kid I would lose my mind over them!!! I kept my cool during the session though, just so you know…
We spent the afternoon chasing waterfalls and stopping along the way to get cute photos like these. However, Echo was more into checking out the waterfalls and his surroundings than doing a photoshoot – There’s a few of Echo not showing his best side, butt, I won’t showcase them in the gallery for his privacy (hopefully you get the joke in there)!
Echo has a lovely personality, very gentle and was the most relaxed Husky I've come across compared to my Border Collie (sorry Zuri), he was so easy to capture!!!
With the intensification of the migratory crisis caused by the war in Syria, Hungary, Serbia and Macedonia close their borders to thousands of people fleeing, breaking an ancient migratory route: the Balkan route. In Greece, along the barbed wire of the Macedonian border, men, women and children gather in camps, in huge self-managed tent cities, where NGOs, volunteers and activists are challenging the game of mafias of human traffickers.
Echoes shows a limbo in which the desperation of a pending future contrasts with a vital and stubborn resistance, focusing her gaze on the day before the eviction of Eko Station, the last remaining informal camp in northern Greece. Through the frequencies of a pirate radio, words and rebel songs echo in the silence imposed by the Fortress Europe.

Decided not to re-finish it for now, so it's just the "moon surface" like etch finish...
A couple walk along the avenue to the Echo curious at the replaced statue. Most people dint realise it was a cardboard flat until they got quite close!
Do you know where the original might be now? the original was toppled and disappeared shortly after WWII. After a short stay in the basement of the house it vanished.
If you have any ideas what happened to it please get in touch and let us know so we can try and track it own.

Every so often I post about my idea for a satellite based on the early 60's US balloon sats. Sometimes referred to as the most beautiful things ever placed in orbit, these were gigantic Mylar balloons that were very bright and easy to see.
I propose a version of this consisting of two balloons connected by a long tether. Drag from the atmosphere would make the satellite rotate end over end and the resulting path as viewed from the ground would be very interesting.
My earlier posts on this give more details...
