Happy Easter from Ophidius Slith. Here he is with two of the three other forms he can take. The third being Quetzalcoatl. I wanted to make this a fast easy drawing that would be just in time for Easter, so I opted to just draw his quetzal and eyelash viper forms. Drawing Quetz even in simple flat colors would have been too hard. So looks like Slith has made his own Easter Eggs. He envenomated most of them himself so watch out when he gives one of these out. Only one radioactive egg. He was feeling experimental. But he prefers to use his own venom.

This is my first time coloring a quetzal. My second time drawing one. And it's funny because if you've seen that sketch my quetzals always are grumpy about something hehe. One day I'll draw one with a happy or normal expression. So yes, Ophidius can turn into a quetzal or an eyelash viper. I still haven't decided if yellow is the color I want for his viper form. There are yellow, pink and green eyelash vipers. Hard to choose between all those nice colors. I'm leaning towards pink but I don't think it would looks so nice digitally colored. I was laughing while I was coloring this, at the thought of toxic eggs. The black ones look really evil. Happy Easter Everyone. This is my favorite holiday.

Easter is the apex of the Church's liturgical year and is the solemnity upon which the rest of the year revolves. It was on the first Easter Sunday that the Lord's disciples discovered the empty tomb, indicating that Christ had risen from the dead.

By His Resurrection Jesus Christ triumphed over death, paid the debt that came through the sin of Adam, and thus opened the gates of Heaven to mankind. Thus, the Lord's Resurrection on Easter thus marks the turning point in salvation history.

It is for this reason that Christians have great reason to rejoice in the new life brought to us by the Risen Savior. Salvation has come at last! For this reason, the Church resumes the use of the word "alleluia" which is said with even greater frequency and fervor for the rest of the fifty days of the Easter season, also known as 'Paschaltide.'

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is no mere historical event relegated to history but a living reality which Christians experience again and again each year. It is an ever ancient and ever new mystery that is re-presented each year. May all discover and receive the new life to be found in the Risen Savior.

Sunrise, 2009

Hillsides take many forms

Wherever we gather in fear or hope

To stand or to shiver is a hillside

Stones take many forms

Whatever blocks all of the light

To entomb or force ignorance is a stone.

How many forms do fear and despair take?

How many prospects of standing silent, alone

In darkness, in desolation?

Hope also takes many forms

Even a cry of anguish seeks a listener

Implying hope.

Silence will end, darkness will end

Stones will fall back, light will enter

Hillsides will warm and bloom

The sunrise will take many forms.

Easter Monday was spent with all the family. My mum had organised a treasure hunt for the children but everyone had one of these at their place at the table, made by her and of course it was filled with chocolates.

Bent arm is on the opposite side, but otherwise very much like the regular Chelsea.
