Hi Worship Background folks,
Every year I struggle to find graphics for Easter, so I created this. Feel free to take it and use it for your slides this Sunday. I put our sermon title large in a nice, scripty font on the upper left corner, with a dark brown shadow. Or if you want to use it for lyric slides, just darken it. I hope someone can use it! Let me know! Happy Easter!!
I know it is a bit early for an easter photo, but I started to experiment with natural food colors. This is the first one. Here I have used carmine (natural red), which is giving a wonderful purple color when you cook eggs in the dye solution.

Using natrual colors to get yellow eggs (curcumin)m green eggs (chlorophyll) and red/purple eggs (carmine). I've used commercial dye. The ones I have made on my own were very pale in color.

Easter Island, also known as Rapa Nui is a little Pacific island quite far from anywhere. The ancient inhabitants who lived there got very clever and decided to chop down all their trees to prop up big stone headed CEOs to watch over things. They learned too late that forests were more useful than big headed CEOs. I think theres a lesson in that for all of us.

We celebrated Easter 2019 at our son, Brian's, house in Columbus, Ohio.
This is the standard couple's photo of Leslie Anne and I together for our Easter feast last weekend. As always, we enjoyed a good meal and a fun time being with each other.

The Altar is incensed as the Magnificat is sung in St Albert's Catholic Chaplaincy.
It looks like these little girls are having great time. I had that exact same red purse when I was three years old in 1954. The band around the bottom is beaded in an Indian pattern. I loved mine so much and I'm sure this little girl did too :-) Scan from a Kodachrome slide.
The annual family Easter egg hunt led to the creation of a very small but tasty herd of cows in my garden! Happy Easter everyone!

Holy Week is known as 'Semana Santa' in Spain and is most widely celebrated in the towns and cities of Andalucia.
Semana Santa takes place the week leading up to the Easter weekend and consists of processions in which enormous 'pasos' (floats) are carried around the streets by teams of 'costaleros' (bearers) followed by 'nazarenos' (penitents).
The processions in Ronda start on Domingo de Ramos (Palm Sunday), all are organized by local Catholic Brotherhoods, and may involve several hours of hot sweaty walking through the city streets until the icon returns to its church.
Women are often dressed in the finest outfits or in complete mourning black, children in communion dress, and men wearing robes with tall pointy hats unless they´re helping to carry the icon. Many will be carrying banners, or holding tall candles. In total there are 14 processions taking place in Ronda over 8 days.
For the 'costaleros' who carry the float it's a once in a lifetime honor to do so as the numbers wishing to be carriers far outnumbers the places available. The carrying of the floats tends to be a male dominated activity as the floats often weigh over 2000kg and it takes many months of practice before the big day. On average there are 40 'costaleros' per float with each one supporting a weight of around 50kg for a few hours.
Following the float penitents are dressed in capes and pointed head gear. This hides their identity, the meaning being that God is the only one who knows who they are.

My wife surprised me with this dress for Easter. It's from JCPenney girls dept. and I love it. Only problem is once she zips it up I can't take it off myself...Such problems ;)
