Years ago the local mall used to have an Easter Bunny Land this time of year with a train for the little kids to ride. The part of me that will always be five years old still wishes that a land of plush bunnies could be real, so this year, the Lab did its best to make that wish come true on a tiny scale.

Happy Easter everyone. have a couple of great vacation days and celebrating easter with family and friends. I am off some days, to have a short easter vacation, back Tuesday next week. Today (Thursday) we work only halv-day in Sweden, tomorrow & Monday are red days :-)
Interestingness:
I wonder if yellow is the “symbol” color of easter all over the world?

The furries convinced Bluebell to take them for a ride in the bunny cart... to be fair she didn't take much convincing when she remembered her roller skates!

Easter vigil brings throngs of worshipers to the square out side of Stavropoleos Monastery in Bucharest.
A 2000 year old story. The in focus cross is made from nails from Coventry cathedral destroyed by bombs in WW2.
I'm hoping the won't be a WW3 but we need politicians who don't want to grab their neighbours land :(
Happy Easter to you if you are in a situation to enjoy it.
Candy eggs are a link back to the actual origin of Easter, which was an ancient pagan religion. A woman named Ishtar was worshipped as a goddess and that's where the word Easter and the bunnies and eggs came from. She told people that she descended from heaven in an egg, and her son (who was worshipped as a god) liked rabbits. Also it was a fertility cult (worshipping sex) so the bunnies and eggs were also fertility symbols, since eggs are a result of chickens and roosters mating, and bunnies are known to mate a LOT. There are those who try to give these things a Christian meaning, but they have nothing to do with the resurrection of Christ. The Roman Catholic church blended some pagan beliefs and traditions into their religion around 300 AD, and for a long time Protestants did not participate in these things, but then they were gradually accepted by many Protestants, and of course today a lot of people who don't even consider themselves Christians celebrate Easter, thinking the eggs and bunnies have some kind of spiritual meaning in Christianity

made these wonderful dresses for me!
easter fires are typically bonfires lit before, during, or after easter sunday as part of secular and religious celebrations.
the fires were supposed to help chase the darkness and winter away. it was also a symbol of fertility, which works in a literal sense in that the ashes were scattered over the meadows and thereby fertilized the soil. the pre-christian meaning of easter fires is hardly experienced anymore. nowadays they are meant to bring the community together, which guarantees a pleasant night combined with the consumption drinks and snacks.
i have never seen it before and it was really spectacular!
In college, after Easter weekend, my friend would always bring a batch of these cookies back with her. They are super yummy and super easy to make. They're also messy, so it's a fun project to do with kids (and the fact that they are no-bake cookies makes it even easier). Perfect to celebrate Easter or Spring in general.
7 oz. marshmallow fluff
1/4 c. creamy peanut butter
2 Tbsp. butter, melted
5 oz. chow mein noodles
1 cup chopped M&Ms
Peanut M&Ms, Cadbury mini-eggs, or jellybeans
Powdered sugar (optional)
Combine marshmallow fluff, peanut butter, melted butter. Mix until well blended. Add noodles, chopped M&Ms. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet and shape to form nests. Let stand until firm. Dust bottom with powdered sugar (optional). Fill with peanut M&Ms, Cadbury mini-eggs, Robin's Eggs (malted milk candies) or jellybeans.
Any of you who follow Bakerella will be able to instantly recognize that almost nothing about the above photo I can claim as my own. I mean, I did make and photograph these cupcakes, but it's an exact copy from Bakerella.
I've developed a bit of a love-hate relationship with Bakerella... I LOVE that she is so talented, creative and such an amazing photographer. I HATE that she is so talented, creative and such an amazing photographer! OK, so maybe it's more of a LOVE- JEALOUS relationship. And of course I'm using the word "relationship" very loosely, since I've never met her, and she doesn't know I exist.
So anyway, normally when I find a great idea from another baker/sugar artist, I try to adjust the design a bit, and make it at least a little my own. But in this case, I was just having a little fun and wanted to see how close I could get to copying my dear Bakerealla. I think I came pretty close ( www.flickr.com/photos/bakerella/3425042523/ ) Of course hers is still better...
Oh, actually I did add little bows to mine, and I thought they were pretty cute.

The Easter Egg history is to resemble the empty tomb of Jesus because the egg resembles the shape of the stone covering the tomb where Jesus's body lay. The hatching egg resembles when Jesus rose from the grave; death.

John 20:24-29: Now Thomas, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord." So he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe." And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace to you!" Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing." And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have seen and yet believed."
