I saw this Mandarin Flowering Quince in the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum area at the U.S. National Arboretum. I loved the delicate little blooms and the unique color.

March is starting to feel more spring-like. We reached 64 degrees today! The warmest day this year, so far! The challenge is "High Noon"; the time of day traditionally avoided by photographers. What fun...

A year ago on the way to Jericho, a time full of hope

The Franciscan Monastery in Northeast Washington DC has existed for over 100 years and the beautiful gardens and famous grottos have been in place for over 80 years. Every Spring their gardens feature tulips. They will all be replaced with annuals in a couple weeks, but thousands will view and enjoy them before then.

Went to my Parents house for dinner to celebrate my birthday. It was a lovely afternoon and they have a number of feeders set out, so the birds were everywhere.

The Narcissus were blooming when we learned Mom had breast cancer and they were blooming when she lost that battle and went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!!! Today it will be twenty years that she has been gone from us but never ever gone from our hearts or our memories!!!!! I love you more than ever, Mom!!! Thank you for all you were and all you did to mold and make your nine children into what the Lord would have them to be and to continually seek Him!!! We were truly blessed!!! She was not perfect just like these flowers are not perfect but beautiful inside and out!!! What a sweet fragrance the Narcissus have...soft and sweet....that was Mom, an old softy, tenderhearted & sweet!!!!

Japanese plum tree in full bloom! Spring is early and if Mother Nature treats us nicely, the Cherry trees should be early this year. This is at f1.8 - but a slight breeze kept shifting the branches a bit - so focus was all over the place.

it really felt like the first day of Spring today

March 1, 2017

Today we had a flock of nearly 50 hens and two big toms ambling through the neighborhood. The big males, these days, are intent on putting on elaborate displays for the females. For now, even in their most ornate and colorful expressions, they seem to be getting ignored. The girls just walk on by!!

Where I scattered ashes on the garden, the snow has melted back to reveal the pale daffodils. They were up about an inch or so, but pure yellow from being buried under so much snow.
