Stachys byzantina (lamb's ear, donkey's ear, Jesus flannel, woolly hedgenettle) flowers.
Delightfully soft, and a great source of nesting material for our wool carder bees, for whom we cultivate these especially. Also a favourite of our bumblebees, though the wool carders tend to drive the bumblebees away.

Another fun roadtrip stop in the Sierra Mountains. The Owens Valley Radio Observatory (OVRO) is one of the largest university-operated radio observatories in the world. It is dedicated to research in radio astronomy and astrophysics, the training of the next generation of radio astronomers, the development of cutting-edge radio instrumentation.
