I went x-country skiing in my neighborhood for a bit late this afternoon. It was good to get out, especially after spending all morning shoveling snow, but boy was that wind brutally cold! ❄🎿

Taken at a neighbor's pasture, the pond serves his small cattle herd with fresh water in winter and a cooling pool in summer.

Every human wishes life was a big circle, childhood to teenage to manhood to old age to childhood again, but unfortunately it's a straight line with a very definite start and an uncertain end. (Quote by - Prabhudoss Samuel)

So much going on...and I wish to hold on.
I was listening to Royksopp when I was editing this photo.
During World War II, the Delaware River was a chief priority for defense planners because of the access it afforded to the giant trade centers of Wilmington, Philadelphia, and beyond. Fort Miles, located in what is now Cape Henlopen State Park, was a key piece in the nation's coastal defense at that time.
The heavy guns, mine fields and searchlights of Fort Miles provided in-depth defense; however, the growing use of long-range missiles brought an end to harbor defenses in the United States. By 1958, Fort Miles was no longer important to the defense of the region, and in 1964, 543 acres of the base were returned to the State of Delaware, forming the heart of Cape Henlopen State Park. In April, 2005, Fort Miles was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
Bellevue Hall mansion commands a grand view of this historic estate, and its present form reflects alterations made by William du Pont, Jr. Mr. du Pont surrounded his home with the finest facilities: tennis courts, equestrian stables, gardens, and a picturesque pond, amid woodlands and fields overlooking the Delaware River. The park was acquired by the State of Delaware in 1976. The Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation has retained the historic charm of Bellevue while providing many opportunities for recreation. Walking and jogging are popular activities at any time of the year. A 1-1/8 mile fitness track circles a catch-and-release fishing pond stocked with bass, catfish, and sunfish, while the nearby exercise trail offers a refreshing workout. Hiking trails allow you to explore other parts of the estate. If you prefer cycling, both paved and unpaved paths lead you on a leisurely tour. As always, a photo each day for 365 days. All shot and edited using Apps on my iPhone 5.
The photo was taken using the camera App Huemore for iPhone. The original image can be found below.
First of all I used the app Handy Photo to edit the image. This was done by erasing out some of the rubbish found in the pond. I then adjusted the Brightness, Saturation and Shadows/Highlights of the image. Next I used the app called Dynamic Light to apply the Orton filter to the picture so that it gave a dreamy sort of glow to the whole image. After that I used Distressed FX to add some extra texture to the image using the Egret overlay and the Karma Texture. Finally I used PhotoToaster to apply the Canvas texture and add the Shadow II frame.
The original photo was taken in Pig Wood in the Tile Hill area of Coventry. It was both of my Daughter's last day of school before the Summer holiday and as I had finished work early, I was waiting to pick them up at the end of their day. Pig Wood is a small urban nature reserve near to the school and as I was a little early I thought I would see if there was any Photos I could take and use for today's image. I found this little pond and liked the look of the trees around the edge of it. The pond was in a bit of a mess with bottles and other rubbish in it, which was a shame. As I liked the look of the pond I thought I would see what I could do to make it look better, so snap there we go. Hope you all like the result.
