The majority of Mongolian people spend their lives travelling. So they need a portable dwelling. Ger is a circular dwelling made of wood and covered with fabric. It became the symbol of Central Asian nomadic life particularly in Mongolia.
This dwelling by the Klettjønna lake was the dwelling for the mine foreman at Storwartz. The foreman was in charge of all the workers at the mine.
The building was originally built as an office sometime around 1900 at Muggruva in the Nordgruvefeltet (the North Mine area). In 1938 it was moved to its present site where it was used as the foreman’s dwelling. The stables were built in 1939.
When production was stopped at Nye Storwartz, in 1953, the building was taken over as accommodation for the workers from the floatation plant. The building was in continuous use all the time there was work at the floatation plant until it closed 1972.

At the end .......the light
New editing for one of my favourite shot, a spectacular location to say the least. I was based very far from there but I went back to the pile-dwelling port in Carrasqueira three times to wait for the right day and light. During my first visit, the tide was too low and the port did not show all its charm, the second time the sky was totally cloudless and it did not show an interesting light.
My last visit I did it on the Saturday, just a few hours before I had to make my way back to Italy. It was literally my last chance, there were a lot of us trying to take the right pic, all armed with our reflex and filters, but strange enough, everybody lost interest in the port right after sunset and they all left. I just had a feeling that the distant city lights could give me something more, I patiently waited and I was rewarded with a shot that I absolutely love. This shot cost me a 15 hours car trip but eventually ... The Light.

Digging through old photos, it's too hot to go outside!
Mesa Verde National Park is in southwest Colorado. It's known for its well-preserved Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings. Mesa Top Loop Road winds past archaeological sites and overlooks, including Sun Point Overlook with panoramic canyon views. Petroglyph Point Trail has several rock carvings.

A fanciful piece...I digitally "carved" this earthen city out of a photograph I took of a mountain side in Cedar Breaks, Utah.
Once considered Italy's equivalent of slums, they've been marginally gentrified today and are now relatively high-demand communities.
A shot I took in some woods combined with my digital drawing of some whimsical houses. If you go down to the woods today......

Bandelier National Monument protects over 33,000 acres of beautiful and rugged canyon and mesa country in Northern New Mexico. Evidence of human presence here goes back more than 11,000 years, including petroglyphs, dwellings carved into the soft rock cliffs, and standing masonry. Descendants of the people who lived here now inhabit the Pueblos of the Rio Grande River.
Hope your week is off to a good start. Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.
