Inhabited until 1953, when the last remaining inhabitants took their timber rooves with them to the mainland, leaving the houses and school to the elements. Now a ferry brings visitors from a dock near Dunquin. There is a cafe and accommodation for a handful of people if arranged well in advance, but no electricity or wifi.
This is one of many rambling dwellings built over the lake. The use of bright colours was a common decorative feature.

Built between 1904-1907, The Manitou Cliff Dwellings is a privately owned tourist attraction with a recreated Anasazi cliff dwelling, museum, and gift shop. Visitors can walk and climb through the recreated cliff dwellings. The cliff dwellings are based on actual examples found in Mesa Verde National Park and similar preserved sites.
The Anasazi, also known as the Ancestral Puebloans, lived in the Four Corners area of the American Southwest from about 1200 BC to AD 1300.

It is US who make HIM our dwelling. This little guy is made of pots or vessels. I thought I'd show him in a variety of settings - always ready, always willing to make himself a dwelling.
