I am looking for a portable, DVR recorder, with two A/V inputs.

One should be for a small basic (but low light capable) CCTV camera, the other one for a technical speciality camera.

There are NO requirements for GPS, motion detection, G-sensor, auto start/stop.

It just needs to record both video cameras output into one Picture-in-Picture recording, onto an SD card (CF card also acceptable). The LCD monitor is just for monitoring, playback will be on a computer or external monitor. A/V out would be nice, but is not required.

It would also work without PiP, if both channels are recorded together, with the same start-stop. I should be able to make a post-processing PiP video, although in-device PiP is preferred.

The movie format must be .MOV or other format which is open standard, and easy to edit. No .3G, .WMV, realvideo or other special proprietary or protected formats!

Whether it has built in battery, or needs an external one (no problem), the power use must not be unnecessarily high, to avoid having to drag a lot of batteries.

It is really quite simple, and a device like this should sell for less than 100 USD. If it has more functions, possibly up to 200 USD. There are devices for pro use ranging into thousands of USD, but they have a lot of functions which are really not needed.

It is important that the original video from the cameras are NOT disturbed by titles or stamps, like "Cam 1", "2012-01-18 12:34" etc - just the pure recording video in PiP, nothing else.

I have found solutions where I can get the DVR in single channel and have the PiP video splitter separately, but it becomes complicated, with lots of cables, separate battery requirements - possibilities of bad cable connections and other malfunctions increase ...

I have searched for an item like this, but I have not yet found the right one:

It is either ...

- Too heavy/large (household use, mains plugin)

- Too expensive/advanced/professional

- Doesn't have PiP

- Too slow video (only a few fps)

- Shows titles, stamps etc, which are not removable in the device settings.

- Unrealiable (gets too hot, shuts off, suddenly no response to input)

- There are lots of dual-cam "car DVR", but none I have found have external A/V input AND no titles/stamps

- Records via USB to computer (not really portable)

I hope someone can point to a gadget that fulfills these requirements.

Thank you
